That is really nice, I recently decided GP is my favorite scuttle. Did they do the color to your specifications ?
Nice, I have one I'v ben using for a couple of months now. Works very well.
It is weird about the color. I was torn between two colors the Hamada and Blue or the Hamada I went ahead and ordered the Hamada and Blue. Well as you can see it is a lot more of a mix of the 2 colors than they show on there web site. I kinda got the best of both worlds it has a real dark bottom and the lighter blue top. But it was not custom it was just pure luck (kinda like they could read my mind :rofl2:) Seeing how they are hand done I knew it would be a little different color than the picture. But I can tell you I don't think I could have ever been happier with the way it turned out.
Well that is pretty cool because Im stuck on those colors as well and have been looking at them on there website. I guess since they are handmade no two are going to be alike, I will be ordering one soon , I cant wait to see what mine comes out like.
I would not call them handmade. They are slip-cast in plaster moulds, which is a quick and easy way to produce identical shapes. It is the glazes that make them look different.
Handmade pottery in my opinion means thrown on a potter's wheel.

Pretty nice. Where exactly did you get it? I have been looking for one.
Thanks,
Michael

You know, I just ordered an GP Scuttle and like you I cannot wait for it to come, but I have noticed one thing from your picture (and other similar in this forum) that the pictures from the website are the old ones and prettier ones. If you notice on yours the colors change very suddenly while the ones in the website are the older ones were the paint "drips" down, a spectacular effect they are clearly not doing anymore. They should change the pictures in the website to the "new" painting standards. I am looking forward to my scuttle but already dissappointed at the art work, its not what they advertise...
I received a Hamada/Persimon GP scuttle about two weeks ago and it looks very much like those pictured on the web site. The upper colors drip down into the lower color. I love warm lather. I am fairly new to the whole wet shaving experience. I think I bought my razor--a Dovo Best Quality with Blond scales--about two months ago. Along with it I bought a short Bismarck hanging strop. I used shaving cream from a can while I waited for the arrival of my online-purchased Vulfix Pure Badger brush and Col. Conk's Bay Rum Soap. After my initial lathering I would hang my brush on its stand. I was surprised at how quickly the lather cooled. The Georgetown Pottery scuttle is large and is therefore useful for creating lather (as when using a cream). There are other scuttles available that incorporate smaller bowls. These would probably keep the brush warmer but would not be large enough for generating lather. I have acquired several shaving soaps and some shaving creams and wanted a vessel that served the dual purposes of warming and whipping. That is why I selected the GP scuttle. Also, I really liked how it looked.
jashobeam that one is really nice, now Im thinking Im going to go with that color.
