Am I pleased with my choice? Absolutely!! I bought a $10 water heater at Target to take water to boiling temperature before loading the scuttle. I preheat it, though Julie says that isnt required.
The scuttle is a great size, though I admit to having used no other and have only my old bowls and soap containers against which to compare. That said, no complaint has surfaced; I've never entertained or had reason to consider any improvements that could or should be made to better suit me. Its deep enough but not so deep as to swallow brush or hand. Its overall mass is large, but fits comfortably on my vanity...no spousal complaints! Its solid...I dont baby it though I suppose it will break if mistreated. Aesthetics? Fine. Plus, its an artisan piece...hand made by a very nice lady who cares about her customers satisfaction.
My Rooney model 3, size two (taller handle than other models) really fits nicely. I also have a Simpson Chubby in the smallest size, a Kent BK4 and a very large Vulfix. All work, but the large brush is a little oversized (I think the knot size is 28-30mm), the Simpson a little short (get more lather on my fingers than with the others).
Sorry about the verbosity....trying to anticipate what considerations you might have when making a selection.
Best..
