Custom Shavemac Brush
I have had a shavemac brush in my rotation for the last three years. A silvertip was my first brush and stayed my only brush for about a year. Then I replaced it with a smaller shavemac pure. Which I have loved and yet love whenever I usei it (which remains very frequent).
I also recetly culled my brushes and was left without a 'large brush' which I love to use. Leading me to this revelation.
As I love the pure badger that shavemac made me, but was hesitant to get a large brush made out of pure, I asked Bernd if a custom 'blend' of badger qualities would be possible. It was and I ended up deciding on a 28mm knot in a Shavemac Retro handle with my special request blend of 60% pure and 40% Silvertip.
Behold the beauty of what arrived today.

Very nice! I really like the retro handle look. I think that bristle combination will be good. Shavemac silvertip is a very soft, luxurious bristle. That combined with the pure should give a slight scritch which I like in many of my brushes.

So far four uses and four successes without a problem. It feels a lot like my Simpson two band Polo 10 felt like. I have used it with both hard soap and shave stick and the shave stick method was surprisingly good. Almost better than the usual face lathering I do.
But my Semogue LE is screaming to be used as it is not fully broken in yet. That one has about 25 uses and just keeps getting better.
With the shavmac though, I think even a 75/25 ratio of pure to silvertip would be good too. Hmmmmmm
I will keep using it without break for at least the next week or two as I have packed up all of my others for our move this weekend.
I love big brushes!!笑う門に福来たる。

i have been eyeing all sorts of shavemac threads all over the web....and recently i just realized why i keep looking at shavemac....it seems that a lot of other brands are nice but for some reason the hairs on shavemack always seem so manicured and in place. i realized some of my brushes have hairs all over the place and look like "bed head" brushes. the shavemac photos whether wet or dry always seem perfect without stray hairs.
