Non Travel Brush Stand

I have a New Forest Silver Tip, I won't get into what a great brush it is now, but I'm not sure what to use for a stand. I don't like standing it on end with the bristles facing up while it's drying. I have a plastic stand that I opened up the hole a bit to fit the N.F. Brush but there is not enough room for the bloom of this brush. The bristles press against the back of the stand, and I don't want to deform the brush. What to use for a stand? Help!

Well, you could probably make one by bending a coat hangar. Otherwise Classic Shaving and SRD sell a variety of holders in different sizes to fit all kinds of brushes.

Have you considered building your own? I've not been wet shaving for long, but the prices of accessories is annoying me, so after a lunch break spent browsing and cringing at the price tags on a lot of nice products, I decided to build my own stand. I knocked out a proof of concept in about 20 minutes with some small scraps I had sitting around. All I used was my dremel, jig saw, and a drill.
I used a 1" hole saw, about 1/2" from the edge of the wood to make the cut out for the brush handle and used the jig saw to lengthen it to support the brush. Then I drilled in with a 1" forstner bit about halfway through the bottom piece, then used a 3/8" forstner bit to cut a small hole in the edge of the other side to hold my razor. I used a sanding drum on the dremel to smooth out the corners. I countersunk a couple screws in to the top and bottom to hold it together, then sprayed it with rattle can varnish (it's currently drying)
Now that I kind of like my idea I'll probably stop by one of the local cabinet shops to pick up some walnut scraps and build something a bit nicer that I've actually bothered to make some measurements on.

That's what I was thinking of. Think I build a long one to hold 5 or 6 brush's. Thanks for the advice.
