Thread: Stiff brush preference

I prefer a big softy! lather on my face and off you go

I like a stiff brush too and here are the three stiffest I've owned:

Simpson Major - Stiff, but a small brush meant for travel. Does the job well though, but I wouldn't use it as a primary brush.

Simpson T2 (Tulip) - This is a medium-sized brush that was very firm and became my daily brush. I only grab one of my other brushes once every couple of weeks because I love the firmness of the T2. It has lost a little bit of its scrub over the years, but is still much firmer than the rest of my brushes. I have no experience with Simpson brushes after they changed ownership a few years back.

Rooney Finest - As was said, it's a firm brush with exceptionally soft tips. I've never used anything like it. I sold mine awhile back because I had too many brushes and could still get a lot of money for it, but I really regret that. It's an awesome brush if you are willing to pay that much.

I'm the same, I prefer a stiff brush. I only have one, a trumpers best badger, but that's really nice and scrubby.

I found the silvertips were a little too soft for my liking.

My seven day set of rather stiff (46mm loft) face lathering brushes.
All TGN Grade A Silvertips (24mm) all the same handle style.
Real ivory,Micarta,Bone,Ebony,Lignum vitae,so.american Morado.

I purchased an omega boar brush that was very stiff at first....Great for my williams pucks as well as my Mitchell's Wool Fat....anything kinda hard seems to accept the stiff brush very well

My Rooney Heritage with super "silvertip" badger is my go to brush because it is both stiff and soft.

But nothing is as delightful to use as my Kent B4 which I suppose you would describe as soft and floppy. No cheap brush, mind you. And don't fall for that line that it won't load soap properly.

I dare you to be flexible and soft tempered, unlike the brushes you prefer, and give a second look at those floppies.

Anyway, viva la difference.

im not sure about extra stiff but i sure do like a stiff brush for my hard pucks

I have a black badger brush that is stiff. I use it with my wool fat soap. Much stiffer than a silvertip but not as prickly as a boor brush.
