Thanked: 1Scuttle and soap
I was wondering if anyone has tried to line the top of their scuttle with tinfoil or wax paper and poring heated/melted soap in. I'm thinking that would be a way to precisely form the soap to the upper bowl. I'm currently using Williams soap and it doesn't fit my scuttle.
Thanks.

Thanked: 346Williams soap doesn't melt for squat. Only glycerine soaps melt and pour like that, hard soaps tend to scorch before they melt. It can be done, but it's tricky -- you'll need a double boiler and a really good thermometer.

Thanked: 1I really wasn't thinking about trying that with the Williams. I was thinking about maybe trying Mama Bears unsented shaving soap or the Bay rum scented or taking a walk around Crabtree and Evelyn (I can't even describe how much I hate going to the mall!) and seeing what they have.

Ray,
I wonder if wax paper would work better. Heat and pour the soap, then you cold remove the wax paper and just leave the soap behind.

I wonder if wax from a dripping candle would work?
Or you could plug the holes with cling wrap.....
