    Default Size of the Crabtree/Evelyn Brush

    Does anyone know the size of the Crabtree Jagger brush?

    I think it's 22mm but I need to be sure.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    It's certainly no larger than 22 mm, my guess would have been 20-21mm. After comparing it to a few others I have, 22 is going to be about right.

    It's advertised as a 24mm brush actually, but I will say that it feels about as small as the 20mm I just got from Matt because the bristles aren't packed as tightly as Matt does.

    The Crabtree brush must be closer to a 20mm unless the Superior brush sizes are incorrect. Both brushes are very nice for the price. I like the Crabtree for hard soaps and the Superior brush for creams. The handle on the Superior brush is very hefty.
    So if you have big hands and like creams this brush would fit the ticket nicely. The Crabtree brush is still used alot since I prefer hard soaps. The heat retention is a bit better on the Superior due to the hairs packed tighter, but still the Crabtree will not disappoint.

    Here is a photo comparison of my Superior Brush 20mm knot and the C&E brush:

    I'd have to agree that based on "eyeballin'" it, the C&E is either 21 or 22mm.

    Here's the measurements that I got from my C&E Best Badger Brush with a set of inexpensive calipers...

    Overall = 100mm
    Handle = 46mm
    Loft = 54mm
    Knot = 22mm

    I'm sure 22mm is right.

    I got a wood lathe from my father-in-law's estate recently, so I want to try my hand at turning out shaving brush handles. I'm experienced with metal lathe work, so it should mostly be a matter of learning the dirrerent techniques.

    I've located a source for badger knots so I've also got that covered.

    Right now, I'm envisioning a matched set of Razor and Brush!

    Against what the manufacturer says, I'm inclined to follow you guys and say it's 22mm.
