For me the day started off just right with the Thater SRP Limited Edition. This two band has plenty of body and never disappoints either with cream or soap. One of my very favorite brushes.
Have fun.

I used a Truefitt and Hill pure badger. Lovely little brush with just the right compromise between softness and springiness to make face lathering with soap both easy and pleasurable. Nice ergonomic handle too, IMO.
James.
A Van Der Hagen DELUXE boar brush. Well worth the extra 2 dollars over the standard version. ;)
I'm not really sure why I use it. It's one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. Been using it for 2-3 years now and I'm used to the way it lathers. An Omega badger was in the rotation for a short while; I just prefer boar.
Todays brush was one that is on my all-time top 3 list.
The Langness by Simpson in Manchurian Badger is as close to brush perfection as I've ever seen.
Soap or cream, thick or thin, this brush whips up perfect lather every time.
The knot is dense with a very good balance between softness and backbone.
Semogue 1438, Boar. I have been using this brush everyday for the last 2 weeks. I have used it with Cella and L'Occitane Cade Soap, face lathering, enough in the brush for 3 passes. I love the way it feels on my face when I really scrub.
Today for me it was a Fatnash 22 ST Fan
With cream or soap it whips up a thick rich lather in no time
Rooney pure badger. IMO, one of those perfect face lathering brushes.
I haven't shaved yet but I think I will use my Simpson 2 band Chubby 3 no, wait I'll use my Plisson HMW 14 no wait I'll use my Thater SRP Special no, wait err... eenie, meanie, miney moe.
I just got my Vie-Long horsehair brush in the other day and found it to be pretty interesting. Aside from the obvious chemical smell that overpowers you initially, the actual feel of it was incredible. Being the manly man I am, it's hard for me to distinguish much difference from my pure badger and best badger; but having said that, I believe I now have a nice progression of stiffness of brushes available to me with this recent addition.
I like my $8 boar. I really like my new horsehair. My pure and best badgers are ok, but my custom silver-tip takes the prize.
What was the question again? Oh yeah,....the Vie-Long was nice today and once I get the smell off of it, I'm sure it'll be a favorite.
Today I used my jade handled boar brush of unknown origins. Works great with creams, soaps and face lathering. It's so broken in that the tips are as soft as any silvertip.
Think i use this day my FS Silvertip. i shave later on the day but i now im gona use this one.
Silvertip Badger from Whippeddog. Soft wet moppy goodness lather explodes from it. I gotta wipe off the ceiling now the room smells of Tabac.
I used my one and only DOVO silvertip badger brush with a white micarta handle.
I used a Vulfix Old Original Super Badger brush, and the reason I like it?.................It's the only brush I own!
I used myOmega 10029 Mini Pro Boar this morning with a super lather of VDH glycerine with a small dollop of CO Bigelow. The Mini Pro handled the soap well then whipped a great lather along with being soft on my skin.
I've got 2 vdh brushes. They are very stiff..I would love a softer brush..this thread will give me some great ideas!
I knew I was going to open this and Lynn would disgust me with his schmancy Thater brush he has there. I offered him $30 for it in Atlanta (if' it's the same one). Man, those Thaters are sweet. Yeah, I'm not playing this game anymore... Thanks, Lynn. :)
Semogue 1305. Seriously a great brush for creams and soaps, keeps getting better with time, and is a ridiculous value.
Today was the Vie-Long 13061M set at 50mm, soft and very dense, it gave a great face lather with a small amount of TOBS cream sample, more than enough for two passes that have been my morning work shave for the past months. It reaffirmed my spur of the moment purchase of a third VL brush this past weekend.
In my particular case today I used a Polo 8 2 Band. The reason for me to used is due to the fact that for me is small and the tips feeling is very nice.
Thanks K
Used the Thäter SRP as well today. It's just superb. Works great for facelathering and kills with a bowl.
Today I used my very first brush again.
It is a Simpson Persian Jar in Silver-tip.
It has worked perfectly from day one, and continues to deliver great suds with supreme ease.
It has a 22mm knot on it but I have no problems getting 3 passes for my face shave and 2 more passes for a proper headshave after that.
Good stuff
Vulfix 404 Grosvenor this morning great lather a little scritchy but the boar isn't broken yet. I can tell I'm going to like it.
well beings i only have one brush a van der hagen brush with the awesome molded plastic handle thats the brush i use all the time. lol kinda sucks to tell ya the truth. i would really like to make my own brush vs buying one. where can a guy get ther hair plug? i have some osage orange wood that i made a razor stand out of and i think a matching brush would look pretty slick.
Try the golden nib Fountain Pen parts - NIBS, - Wholesale Fountain Pen Ink - Golden Nib AZ they have hair plugs and handles. I've purchased two the first went the awesome molded VDH handle along with a couple of coins for weight. Although not a direct fit the 24mm boar knot is pretty awesome, very soft with lots of backbone.
havent shaved yet, but later I will be using my SOC boar in cherry and MWF with a touch of Cyril Salter vetiver. have a 2 day growth going so I will need the extra scrubbiness of the SOC :)
I used my very large Omega, boar brush, red handle and no I don't know the model # of it but it works great on most of the soaps/creams I have used it on. Great all 'round brush in my humble opinion.
Vie-Long 13800 Horsehair. Works between a boar and a badger, which mean well!
Vie-Long 14095 mixed horse badger set at 50mm loft somewhat firm and very soft. It's a new brush to me but I think I'm gonna like it.
Guys:
Today I used my Plisson size 14 two band hair brush. The reason I liked is because is one of my smallest brushes. It performs very well and the ebony wood handle is very nice and very cool when you make your gribs.
thanks
K
just got my omega 80005 boar brush with beechwood handle... WOW this brush is awesome! lathered like an absolute beast! love the backbone to it and that it is still very soft on my face. the comparison to my Omega 6191 badger is crazy. the boar has the backbone yet is still soft without being scratchy unlike the 6191 badger which has a little backbone, is soft but is kinda scratchy feeling.
so basically like this brush because it kicks butt!! err lather..;)

This Omega Super Badger....
I like it because it's the only one i have
I always use an Omega Syntex. Cheap and cheerful. It gives me the best lather ever. Every so often I feel the urge to try one of my natural hair brushes, boar or badger, which invariably disappoint.
I have a beautiful Badger brush that produces a factastic lather and feels fantastic... but the handle is falling apart, so I use a drugstore $5.00 sythetic Wilkinson Sword Brush which still gets a great lather, and the plastic handle is not crumbling in my hand. Just feels a little rough on my face.
Gents:
Today I shaved with a Vie lon that I owned silvertip Badger. Real nice brush with very soft tips. Very similar to a Thater I owned also.
I like this brush just for how soft the tips are.
K
Also today I used my EJ silvertip. I love this brush. But I do wish it was a bit bigger. Just the handle, the knot is great and with this brush there's not to much bloom. but I am looking at the Simpson polo10. Any thought? Thanks
Chase
Today i used one of my Silvertips.
This one is special for me,the handle was from my granddad.he used it wayback in the 50s.
I re-knotted him 2 weeks ago from boar to silvertipbadger. Must say the badger from the NIB and the handle make me in love on this one.!
Today I used my AOS pure badger. This was my first badger brush and I haven't used it in a while. I decided to face lather today and always liked this brush for that purpose. I had forgotten how good this brush is, lather exploded and got a great shave.
