So I just ordered my first brush from whippeddog and got it in the mail today, silver tip badger, resin handle that matches my razor and a little soap dish I found, so is there any special way to break the thing in? Do I want to soak it or something? Forgive my ignorance just really have no idea

Some brushes stink a bit at first and there are a few courses of action you can take if it bothers you...otherwise, just soak it in warm/hot water a few minutes before each use (to hydrate it) and start enjoying it.

That funk will gradually go away. You can speed the process with a few secret formulae that folks have come up with. :) This has worked for me: If you have an oxygen-based bleach, soak, rinse, soak, rinse, etc. Do that a couple/few times and it should help.

Ive gotten rid of the worst of the worst smells with.....cat shampoo. it strips smells and is easy on fur. also great after fishing to rid yourself of the fishy hand smell

Looks good. Hope you enjoy it. The first few shaves might smell slightly gamey but after that it should be bliss.
