Thanked: 0First brush just came. Now what?
So I just ordered my first brush from whippeddog and got it in the mail today, silver tip badger, resin handle that matches my razor and a little soap dish I found, so is there any special way to break the thing in? Do I want to soak it or something? Forgive my ignorance just really have no idea

Thanked: 247He sent instructions with mine.
Some brushes stink a bit at first and there are a few courses of action you can take if it bothers you...otherwise, just soak it in warm/hot water a few minutes before each use (to hydrate it) and start enjoying it.

Beyond the initial cleaning, only boar brushes really require "breaking in." Anything else, is pretty much good enough out of the box ( they may soften or change a little, but not so much that you need to worry about it). Also, don't worry if it sheds a couple of hairs the first couple of times, that's normal.

That funk will gradually go away. You can speed the process with a few secret formulae that folks have come up with. This has worked for me: If you have an oxygen-based bleach, soak, rinse, soak, rinse, etc. Do that a couple/few times and it should help.
Nice score on the bowl - it looks like they were made for each other.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
