Sung to the tune of "Almost cut my hair," if you're old enough to remember that.

This thread is really about my finding that brushes can 'break in. When I first got this limited edition Rooney I was really into scritchy brushes and this one wasn't that. It was a limited edition sponsored by a vendor in Great Britain, for a charity gift to a hospital, and made by Rooney as detailed here. Advertised as being made with a special Super grade from Rooney's Heritage line of hair.

This was around the time that the Heritage line had first come out. So I went for it. The brush had strong backbone but no scritch. At the time I had a case of brush acquisition disorder, and a large rotation of them. I used this brush a fair amount, trying to give it a chance, but it didn't excite me. So I put it in its box in the closet and forgot about it. Then time passed and I sold some brushes. Decided to sell this one too.

Took it out of the box and took some photos but decided to take it out for a spin one more time. I hadn't used it in a year or two. Lathered up with some Trumpers and low and behold I felt a little scritch. I don't know if my few years older face has changed, my technique, or what, but it had some of the celebrated scritch. So I began using this brush more often and darned if it isn't improving even more. So, going back to the '60s and glad I cut my 'freak flag' years ago. Also glad, fast forwarding to the 21st century, that I didn't sell my brush.
