Very very very nice. Enjoy.
Not TGN, it is one of the Chen knots from Alibaba. I tried some of his silvertips, and ordered a couple HMWs since I was there. So far I am liking his HMW far more than the silvertips, but I will have to wait a day for some stubble to give it a test. So far it lathers great for a 20mm knot.
I can't wait to try one that you sent me. I actually have a TGN HMW that I am making for my self as well. So a nice little comparison I'll have to do. Thanks again Jon for the knot!
Got a chance to try out the HMW tonight. I used Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood, as that is one of my more finicky soaps, and I am very pleased with the results. For a small knot, it had plenty of backbone, much more than the silvertip of the same size/loft that I used on the other brush, and lots of scritch. Being a smaller vintage brush, the knot was 20mm, and set at about 54-55mm. This brush will be getting plenty of use in the future.
I may set mine deeper. :).
I have a vintage Plisson that is super floppy, but I like it that way. It whips up cream so awesome. I also have a 26mm TGN grade A that sits at 53 mm. Kind of a medium loft. Its a great all round brush. I'd like something with even more backbone to have on hand. So I think when your knot shows up here, I'm going to set it somewhere around 50mm in this old Meakins handle I have. Can't wait!
I think even in the 53-55 mm range you will be happy with the backbone.
Also, I was poking around TGN, and I can't help but notice that their HMW looks different than what I have, and I tracked down Mr.Chen's storefront and realized that he sells the knot as a high mountain, not a high mountain white. My mind must have inferred the white. It actually looks more like the TGN finest two band. It is still a very nice knot.
Here's mine done. I set the knot at 48mm to try and give it some nice backbone. The brush works great. This winter I'm using MWF all season exclusively, and this brush Ive now used three times with no problems. It's Definitely not a HMW knot, I would say its in the 2 band finest category. Its a great little knot that I'm enjoying a lot. Thanks again Jon for sending me it.
Heres a pre use pic, and a first bloom pic.

That handle does look surprisingly similar. Looks good.
