Thanked: 2284Heart & Sapwood, African Blackwood.
Its been over a month since I've been on the lathe, due to my newborn baby girl Amelia, who was born on Dec 28. I have a new found respect for all the Dads out there. Once you add the second kid, free time goes out the window!!
Anyways, things have calmed down a bit now and my wife and I have gained control, back over our regular lives. After a short day of work today, I decided to hit the lathe. I roughed out bowl, still green and not dried, for future use. I also spun out a nice little shave brush.
The brush is a 20mm finest 2 band, set at 49mm. The handle is African blackwood with both the heartwood and the sapwood being used. The contrast of the two colors is just beautiful, and is brought to life by 2 coats of paste wax and then 2 coats of conservators wax. Then buffed to a high polish.
Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....
