Thanks guys. The koa is a super nice wood indeed. The grain is in 3d movement when you move it around. Koa is also fairly easy to work in so if you can source a good piece for a ok price its a win.

I got a question about how i bond the wood handle to the imitation horn knotholder. I figure i would post it here.

I pre drilled a hole abit smaler then the A4 woodscrew and countersink it. I then epoxy glued both the hole/screw and the surfaces betwin the two pieces. I did this because i have bad experiance with brushes that only has the two surfaces glued, it pretty much takes one hit against something solid and the glue will fail in the joint. Same with unstabilized wood/horn that can move around. Not saying it will happen to yours but this is my experience and if i can make something more solid, i try :)

I like that illustration. I think you've got the right idea from what I can tell. Pixel uses a dowel also. Seems like the screw should be plenty.

Thanks. Yeah a dowel works good to. Plus side on a screw is that the threads narrows everything down.

Great Illustration Magnus,Heres another way I use If I am just using a band that has no bottom section, esp with non-ferrous metals such as copper or brass,I machine the handle, than press fit and epoxy the band in place before I bore the knothole.
I want the knot to be setting in the handle material if a metal cap is used,beautiful Brushes Magnus.

That seems like a great way to do it Pixel. ill haf to try it when im using some copper or brass for sure.

have some wood comming my way in a week or so. i might end up sending you another job if im having trouble comming up some good designs since im very limited on the tools. :P
