Thanked: 2284A classic Barber style Boar brush.
Some of you saw a pic of this late last night. I was still getting the finish right and just had the knot set in for display. This brush started a year ago when I received a Omega pro 98 Boar as a gift. Now I know a lot of you really like this brush, and use one on a regular basis. My opinion, for me, its way too big and way to stiff. So I decided to remove it from its hollow, black plastic handle and save it for a custom handle.
I decided to make a classic style barber brush that I had seen on a post Bongo started, with posters of old brushes, and was also in a pic UKRob had sent me. This specific style of handle jumped out at me because it has different lines than other barber brushes. Almost like a curvy, voluptuous woman.
I doweled the pieces together using a 1/2" dowel to give the burl strength when I turned the middle down to the skinny "waist." You can see I also made some small grooves for the epoxy to grab when gluing the pieces together.
Here's the final product. African Blackwood at the top and Golden Amboyna burl for the bottom handle.
Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....
