Thought I'd share my first effort turning a brush. In fact, this is the result of my first time using a lathe. Please be kind with your critiques, There are many flaws, but it still works great.
My folks live in the northwest and my father has a the mother of all wood shops. When I get out there to visit I spend a lot of time in there, but everything is a learning process for me.
As a noob, I really don't' know much about technique so I just kind of winged it. On top of that I think I chose the most difficult wood to turn: Black Palm. This stuff wants to splinter, a lot. Made things kind of challenging to say the least.
Cleaned it up as best I could and finished it with CA. Fitted it with a 22mm finest badger bulb from TGN. The epoxy ran a bit but I can live with this. This is my first high quality badger brush and the difference is huge.
The bug has been firmly planted. My newly ordered lathe should be here in about a month.
Funny, but you never hear the anyone say "this should complete my collection" on this forum.
