    Default First Try Making Brush

    Hello Gentlemen!
This is a first for me. Ive got a few big projects Im working on and took a break to try this out.. its been eating at me and I really had to do it!
Bought these 2 candle holders for a dollar at garage sale and the knot from a reputable source. I like all different bristles, soft, scratchy, firm soft, but find myself most of the time wanting stiffer bristles with some scratch..
This is Finest F2. Didnt look exactly like the pics not as nice looking and Im gonna have to trim loose hairs a little, but Im mostly happy with it.
Cut the top off candle holder. Drilled holes. Cut some brass rod and heated "pillar" up with torch. Took brass rod out of freezer and tapped it in. Then quenched. Very tight fit now, not coming out. Sanded down the brass rod. Filed inside of hole in the base of handle. and it slides perfectly on with no wiggle.
I havent made the African Blackwood rim for around the hole up top, and I havent glued in the knot... but here is what it look like so far. So far I really like it.
The SR in the pics is a favorite of mine, very well made. Dont know much about it though. The tang stamp reads: Gebr. Dittmar In Heilbronn. The tang is sandwiched in brass. Very cool blade.
    Thanks for looking!
