Making some silvertip brushes.

So I finally got my order from thegoldennib.com and im so excited for my next project. The brush knots are awesome and the handle blanks are even cooler. The third brush is going to get an iron wood handle out of a hunk I happened to have sitting around waiting to be stuck on my lathe. Check it out fellas!



22mm super silvertip, 24mm grade A silvertip, 26mm grade A silvertip

dragon skin and persian turquoise blanks. And my hunk of ironwood.

Man I'm already impressed with the handle choices I can't wait to see the final products man if I had a lathe this is all I'd probly do is make brushes hahahah But way to jump in feet first can't wait to see

Shoot me a PM of the dimensions you use on the wood for the lathe! Wanting to upgrade to a badger brush and thought buying a know would be the best way to go! And like wooden brush handles!

Might take me a bit to get started. I need to make sure I have the right forstner bits before I start. Its always good to drill a test hole first to see how the badger knot will fit. Might have to go to Leevalley again.

A 20 lb sledgehammer would persuade that knot into a less than perfect hole. The bonus of using this Scookum patented method of knot setting would the elimination of the need for an epoxy glue. Wack it!

speaking of epoxy, it's like picking paint colors out with your wife. There's just to many! and she likes them all!!!!! Gel, wet, steel, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min, this brand that brand.........

I have recently decided to go old school with my handyman endeavours, picked up a couple hand planes, saws, chisels etc. Scookum Fabrications Inc will commence operations as soon as the work bench is finished construction, hopefully by this weekend. The plan is to fabricate shelving units, razor stands, brush handles/stands, razor boxes, honing stone holders and all manner of wooden articles using nothing but Skoocum Steam Power.
