High Mountain White
I finally got my brush knot which is a High Mountain White/Manchurian or whatever you want to call it. Sounds like a fancy name for finest badger. I guess it comes from the badgers that are found in a certain region. It turned out alot bigger than I was expecting. Dimension are 26mm/75mm. I set the loft at 55mm. Compared to my TGN finest that I did it is quite different. The tips are alot softer and I thought the TGN finest was quite soft. I think it is alittle floppier than my other brush, but can't really compare them fairly since one is set at 52mm loft and the new one is 55mm. The High Mountain has a spongy feel to it. The handle is olive wood that I spotted on the bay and thought I would give it a try. For about $25 I am quite happy with the brush. I just have to get used to the size.

Where did you source the knot from. I have both HMW and Manchurian and neither is even remotely floppy.

I am under the impression that how deep the knot is set in the handle has a lot to do with backbone regardless of the loft. On a 75mm overall knot I am not sure how deep is ideal. I know that too deep is no good, nor not deep enough. Got to be just right for optimum results.

Its not really floppy, its that its soft and spongy feeling. My finest has this stiffness since the tips aren't as soft. I got it from here High Mountain Badger Hair knot (26/75) for Shaving Brush Making-in Shaving Brush from Beauty & Health on Aliexpress.com after I read someones post about it.
