Only had a tick on me once before and I've been paranoid about them ever since. When walking through the countryside I make sure there's no open trouser leg for them to get into. I confess that my reaction to finding a tick on me when in the shower was far from being a manly one. It wasn't just that it was on me. It was that it had gone through the effort of heading all the way up my leg for the express purpose of taking up residence next to a testicle. Thankfully my panicked removal of it didn't cause any infection.

Don't know that one but eating black powder was also an old trick for curing certain forms of infection or suppuration as it was then called.

I have heard of this one. It is probably the sulpher in both of them that makes it work, but there is also potassium nitrate (salt peter) in black powder.

I have also heard of taking a spoon ful of molasses sprinkled with sulpher to get rid of worms etc.

Who knows, but there are advantages to living in the modern age.

After some research I learned that what are commonly referred to as seed ticks are ticks in the first of three phases of their life cycle-larva, nymph, adult.
I had heard about the match eating trick but never tested it. I will have to look for some Permanone as Will N. suggested.
