For those that don't know, the indigenous people of North America did not have any 'written' language. For thousands of years, they painstakingly retold the stories, legends, history etc--Exactly Word For Word--as they had been told for all time.

**We were told that they had braves positioned at the base of the cliff to kill any buffalo that tried to escape as they believed that if any of the survivors were to escape that they would tell other buffalo of what had happened and then the hunt would never be successful again.

Well I think that's been agreed upon then. It's a Marmot. Thanks for the confirmation. I was only sure it wasn't a beaver, even though it seemed to be enjoying chewing on that fallen tree at the time. I saw that bloke at Yellowstone, if I remember correctly. :)
