WWl happened a long time ago. To most people alive today it may have just as well happened in Ancient Greece.
In the day they thought all those treaties would be a deterrent to war like we think nuclear weapons are a deterrent these days. They were wrong then of course.

Nuclear weapons do not prevent war, but they do prevent war between the parties who have them. It only works if both sides have more than enough to kill each other. That's why I don't think disarmement is such a great idea. A great amount of nukes will not make it to target for one reason or other. As soon as the level of guaranteed destruction falls below the 'we just might make it' threshold, someone will start thinking bad thoughts. Originally Posted by thebigspendur
