Well, to bring a bit of balance to this thread...
You know it's going to be a GOOD day when:
Within the first hour of arriving to work, a manager from another dept. comes and asks you to show them in detail what you have been working on because they disagree with the company vice president's opinion on how fast or reliably results can be had (which you've been saying all along).
Then, as soon as they leave, you get an email from a prospective employer asking you to come in for an interview.
That was a double whammy of both feelings of validation and being marketable.
Bad & Good you have to look at it both ways
Bad, the wife says "I just put the last log in the stove" as she leaves for work :(
Good, You get to crack over a 1/4 cord of wood in the unusual sunshine of late February on a brisk 23°F morning in North Idaho,,,, so not a bad workout :)

Really Good, Sitting in front of the blazing wood stove watching a Game of Thrones marathon on DVD while honing razors :D
1. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
2. Snag your pants and rip the seat out.
3. Assign a cloud-based kill app to your left mouse button.
4. People hiding behind masks inject you with mind-altering drugs.
5. Same masked people cut into both your hands to fix your index fingers, the ones sometimes called "information givers".
6. Now your hands are sore but work much better.

Dave
When you watch a crack slowly creep across your windshield on your morning commute.

When you receive this photo in a text message from your wife, on her birthday, with a message explaining that she is on the side of the interstate, three hours from home, all the kids are crying, and she is not sure if the vehicle will make it home (because the exhaust is pinched nearly shut from the impact).
....when you hear a wheel bearing grinding then take it to the mechanic and find out the u joint on your front drive shaft (4wd) is missing and the drive shaft is what is grinding...yay @ $800+ to fix....plus the part isn't in stock anywhere but the dealership and it commonly goes bad...
