Many moons ago when I was playing baseball on a team we were seriously down and I was an outfielder and while talking to the other outfielder and with my hands out all of a sudden I felt something in my glove. It was the ball. The guy hit a line drive and I didn't even know he had hit the ball and didn't even see it. I saved the game and was the hero with that "catch" -har har.

That's hilarious! Thanks for sharing
.
Way back in the day, my girlfriend got us tickets to see the Dalai Lama in The University of Torontos Convocation Hall. It was good times, but it started to run long when they began to anoint Steven Seagal as an honorary body guard. I needed a smoke.
For the life of me I cannot recall why I didn't zip outside, instead, I combed the back halls to find a location. I lit up and enjoyed that which was my habit. Out of no where, a group of people walked up to me - it was the Dalai Lama, Seagal, and the entourage!!
I wish I could say Seagal kicked the…. out of me, or that the Dalai Lama touched me, but that didn't happen. We all bowed and I was asked if I had enjoyed the show.David

More baseball.
My son was on deck at a little league game as I returned from the concession stand carrying a tray of Carolina chili-cheeseburgers in my left hand and sodas for four in the other. The batter hit a sky-high popup foul that was destined to hit me on the head - me, 15-feet from the on-deck circle and my boy, watching, eyes agape.
As mothers screamed and scattered, leaping out of their seats and getting clear, I methodically sat down, transferred the loaded burger tray to my other forearm and deftly balanced the food and drinks on one palm and arm. I then reached up with my left, one-handed the ball and flipped it to my son without missing a beat. It was a one-in-a-million. 25 years later he is a professional sports broadcaster, has seen many a game and stills recalls it as the best catch he ever saw. This was perfect timing, perfect coincidence and perfect dumb luck.
I should always shave so neatly...
Thank you for letting me recall my moment of quietly proud father-greatness.Last edited by MisterMoo; 03-19-2014 at 05:09 PM.
