Growing a beard

So this is my 1st post in a long while on SRP. Mainly due to having a young family and both me and me and my partner having intense jobs. More recently ive not posted due to those reasons and because... ive quit shaving!!!

Havent had a blade of any kind touch my face since December 2013, initially due to me not being bothered to shave but now my beard is growing ive grown rather attached to it.

At the stage that its at its still on grow out. Like many others i suffer from a case of patchy beard so im letting it get to a good length to hide the patches.

So my questions are...

Are there any other beard growers out there?

If so...

What is your mantenance regeime?
What products do you recommend (i.e beard oils? Shampoo)?
Any tips for a relative newby to beard growing.

Also and i suppose quite an important question...

What do your partners think? Mine is half and half... i think the more it grows the more she likes.

Im sure there are other members who have beards here... after all not all SR, DE, cartridge shavers are completely clean shaven ;);)

I grow a beard occasionally, but get sick of it after a month or two and shave it off. I've been doing that on and off for 20 years I guess. Mo and goatee is my equilibrium condition.

Maintenance? Nothing. It gets wet in the shower - that's always good enough for me. Maybe twice a year, if I remember, it might get a shampoo, maybe. Same with products - I use no products. Someone gave me moustache wax a short while ago and I fiddled with that for a week or so, but didn't really take to it.

Best tip I can give you when growing a beard is to let all the hair on your face grow out to a decent length, then just shave off the bits that don't look like the beard you want. :)

Honestly, there's no real tricks to growing a beard except patience and a mild tolerance of irritation during that "itchy" phase.

My wife likes the beard I have, but doesn't like it when I go the full "Grizzly Adams".

What can I say? Since going bald my only hair styling options have been chest hair and beard, and there's only so much you can do with chest hair... :D

I went full beard over this past Christmas break - started in October, let it grow until around Feb when I got sick of it and shaved it off. That'll probably be it now for the year I think - next time I grow a beard will be after it goes entirely white in a couple of years - see if I suit the santa claus look.. :)

I have a full beard, sometimes the hair will feel dry from being out in the elements so I will use some Argan or Shea oil to protect and hydrate. I also use petal pusher fancies moustache wax to kinda form various parts that might get all goofy in the wind or rain. Oh those oils are sold at various beauty shops for just a few bucks. Happy growing

I grow my beard out occasionally too, though I usually sport some variation of facial hair. The last time I had a longer beard I didn't shave for over 100 days, which was a record for me IIRC.

For the full out unmaintained beard I'll use shampoo daily when I shower. Some beard gurus say not to shampoo every day as it strips the beard of its natural oils, but I've never found any adverse effects. Invest in a beard/moustache comb and use it often;it's far better suited to tame an unruly beard than a hair comb or brush.

And finally, patience is your friend. Sometimes it's nice to take some time off from shaving - no pressure to shave, no need to find the time to do it.

Just those - Man, you're so weird!!!
I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have that toe hair... best styling is to braid it together with the armpit stuff. And if you incorporate some strands of pink, glitter and glow-in the dark you (well, not you obviously) have got the best of the best :)
