I posted awhile back about my new found regimen of walking 2 miles briskly every morning or so. Did it for about two months and was going great guns. Then I started feeling a pain in the center of my right buttock.
A dull ache, nothing sharp but it wasn't going away. I had hurt myself with over zealous stretching after walking in the past, so I figured that might be the cause. Anyway, a friend encouraged me to take a break from the walking and I figured I'd get back on the bicycle instead.
My 8th grade coach would encourage us, when we were running and had that burning in the side, to 'run it out.' So we did and it went away. Aside from denial, i.e. I don't want to be injured so I'll make believe I'm not, I had that philosophy of more exercise will help.
Still no improvement so I stretched even more. Anyway ........ long story short, I found this article, and since I'm an expert diagnostician, and it is on the internet, I'm 99% sure that is what I have.
A Pain in the Butt | Running Times
Taking Aleve (naproxen sulfate) for the past few days and haven't exercised in a week. It is getting better but I need to stretch my hip flexors and adductors + the periformis muscle before I'll be out of the woods. I won't begin with that until I'm better + a couple of weeks.
Be careful out there.
