Pain In The Butt !
I posted awhile back about my new found regimen of walking 2 miles briskly every morning or so. Did it for about two months and was going great guns. Then I started feeling a pain in the center of my right buttock.
A dull ache, nothing sharp but it wasn't going away. I had hurt myself with over zealous stretching after walking in the past, so I figured that might be the cause. Anyway, a friend encouraged me to take a break from the walking and I figured I'd get back on the bicycle instead.
My 8th grade coach would encourage us, when we were running and had that burning in the side, to 'run it out.' So we did and it went away. Aside from denial, i.e. I don't want to be injured so I'll make believe I'm not, I had that philosophy of more exercise will help.
Still no improvement so I stretched even more. Anyway ........ long story short, I found this article, and since I'm an expert diagnostician, and it is on the internet, I'm 99% sure that is what I have.
A Pain in the Butt | Running Times
Taking Aleve (naproxen sulfate) for the past few days and haven't exercised in a week. It is getting better but I need to stretch my hip flexors and adductors + the periformis muscle before I'll be out of the woods. I won't begin with that until I'm better + a couple of weeks.
Be careful out there.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I feel your pain. It's a bummer when you try to do something good for your health and it's makes things worse.
I have been trying to walk as much as I can to get down to a healthy weight for running. I strained my knee a couple of months ago and now think I have plantar fasciitis.

HEMIPYGIC adj. Having only one buttock; half-arsed.
Jokes aside, I wish you a speedy recovery!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

A pain in the butt can really slow you down. it can also let you know your not as young as you use to be. I know because the last weekend of April I slipped and fell getting my boat off the trailer and it to the water. landed on my left shin then to the concrete. didn't think much of it just got up and went fishing. the pain set in that night and lasted until june first when I finally went to the doc. I didn't know you could get your butt pushed out of place. it seems it got a pinched nerve in that area. after 3 wks of PT I'm a lot better. After saying all that i'll say this if it don't get better don't wait like did. get it fixed. Life's too short to hurt. now that's 2 1/2 cents worth

Be cautious with diagnosing yourself.
Stretching is a good thing but like stretching and shaving too much
can cause damage. Stretching before should remind your body of
what it can do... stretching after should help remove lactic acid.
Increasing your range of motion -- well slow and steady and not all
of us can do a split.
The Butt is a big ass muscle. You could have a clot or a tear
or pinched deep nerve and other stuff too.
Motion improves circulation...
If you are as old as I am visit with the doctor on the phone.
Go in if recommended....
Like you I have taken up walking... My walks a couple times
a week are 7-10 miles in the cool of the evening. I do get
some pain from time to time but a dose of Ibuprofen with some food as recommended by my doctor
sorts it out.
There are four common types of OTC pain medications... Do not mix them
without a doctors advice and learn the differences, why one is better than another. Ask your
doctor.... Here is a link so you can ask good questions:

I am sitting in front of a computer... for me it is a good thing to get up every hour and walk the
dog or smell the roses outside for ten min. Or make bread... more on that later.

As the octogenarian as of late, welcome to my world. Aches on getting up, aches on getting thru the day and aches on going to bed. If it isn't one part of the body, it's another. And if you think it's mental add head aches to the list. I've developed into a mild hypochondriac over the past several years and it has helped a great deal in learning to live with aging and the like. One thing about pills, after a while you either need more or a different one or more than one. That's a trap I don't want to fall into. A good forty years ago my lower discs disintegrated. A week of traction in the hospital and a prescription back brace. That lasted about three months when when I woke up one morning and realized that I couldn't get out of bed until I, horizontally, put the damned brace on. Haven't worn it since. I live by one very simple motto these days, while still relying on medical advise to a degree, and that is "Grin and Bear It".
"The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Thanked: 1184A couple of nice looking blondes massaging it 3 times a day will fix you up in about 10 years. Actually 2 weeks but who is going to say they are cured that quick :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
