Bummah!! He was always awesome!! RIP
RIP Robin and thank you for all of your brilliant work.
I am saddened by this loss. I can think of no harder life than that of a comedian. It will be a long time before another of his ilk will surface.
Loved his humour and will miss him,RIP.
Bob
What?? Bit of a shock I have to say. As the great man once said: "Shazbot"!
Rest in peace brother, and thanks.
Nannoo nannoo
James.
I'm very shocked by this, he put such warmth and authenticity into his work and made millions laugh and feel better about themselves, their lives, even for that two hours.
It's such a shame that there wasn't someone or something that could have done the same for him.
Depression and mental illness is such a crippling disease, and it's claimed another...so tragic, and so sad.
I hope he finally found the peace he couldn't find here...
Heloooooooooooooooooo, Vietnaaaaaaaaaam!
There is a very large part of me that's mad that he would do that to his family.
Truly - I hope I never understand the depths of depression that he and millions of others must endure to seek... the ultimate solution.
RIP Williams.
He was a nut. On and off the camera. We grew up with his antics, but seemingly tired of them after a bit. Seems he tried to grow as an actor, succeeded somewhat. Still played a nut. Things got bad for him as of late. Guess it did not work out. It makes me wonder why more do not walk away. They have money. Cannot figure. I will miss him. I feel for his family and his fans. He shall be missed.
They broke the mold after they made him.
RIP Robin!
Walking in someone else's shoes is near impossible. RIP
One thing I try to tell myself everyday, was well stated in JimmyHAD's signature line...say's it all in so many ways, and something, speaking for myself, I try to remind myself of everyday.
JimmyHAD's sig line
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle,” attributed to Ian Maclaren, circa1897
RIP Robin.
I use Shuzbut everyday instead of swearing. I catch my 5yr old using it as well.
I spell it 'shazbot' . Man, that was a silly program. Remember the great head?:D
I always wanted Mindy to be going up the hill to me in her Jeep. not a silly alien!
The program did some things with situation. Funny!
RIP Robin.
I reckon people can get depressed over a lot less than $38 million dollars.

RIP Mr. Williams
I'll miss the guy. Still one of my favourite actors ever. Never saw him in a role where I didn't like him. I may not have always liked the films he played....but HE always made those films better than what they otherwise would've been.
He was also incredibly funny in his standup (listening to this right now http://youtu.be/AdIRME3EpFY )
His stand up stuff was incredible. There arent many of his films which I am a huge fan of but his stand up stuff from the 70s, 80s was crazy good.
It carried over to his appearances on late night talk shows. I cant say that I have seen any in the last roughly 10 years so I dont know if they aged well. But he would absolutely steal the show when he was on in his heyday. The hosts would say literally 2 words and then he would go off for the entirety of the 2 segment appearance.
He was a comedian's comedian. Much of his routine was improv and he was one of the best at it.
He battled demons throughout his life (as we all do to one level or another). It looks it seemed like stuff was piled too high against him. It is unfortunate that anyone would feel that way. It is a reminder that no amount of fame, reverence or money is any match for depression.
He was a local favorite around here. He would show up th 49ers and Giants games when he was a bit younger. He did a fair amount of charitable work around the same time (perhaps continued to do so).
There was a sign on 101 near Candlestick for years that said 'the clean up of this portion of the freeway sponsered by Robin Williams' or words to that effect...not sure if that was just a California thing but those signs were everywhere it seemed several years ago. I was always hoping to see him out there because I thought he was weird enough to actually pick up trash on the freeway without being mandated by the courts.
A great loss indeed. He will be missed and remembered.
This one got to me.
It feels like I have grown up with that man.
Loved him in many roles, my favorites includes The world according to Garp, Awakenings, Good Will Hunting and Seize the day.
A wonderful and multitalented person it looked like.
RIP
Such a sad circumstance that led to his demise... I have some close knowledge of these circumstances and it is truly awful in so many ways. Prayers of support to his family. With great hope that his personal suffering is ended and his soul is at peace.
Ya I was shocked and disappointed hopefully he found the peace he was searching for...... R.I.P
terrible shame. one of my favorites growing up and still any time I saw him recently.
I too grew up with his movies. Although he was funny, he has also always struck me as a very real and genuine person, filled with an overwhelming amount of kindness and compassion. I just re-watched Patch Adams the other evening, and couldn't help but feel as if the movie was almost a direct reflection of his life, minus the doctor bit of course. The world is indeed a little bit darker without him in it, and he will most certainly be missed.
Breaking: turns out that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's, on top of the depression and financial troubles.
Man, I'm really bummed out right now. Hands down one of my top 3 favorite actors. And beyond that, he was just an all around great guy by everyone's account. He genuinely cared about making the world a better place, starting with the individual in front of him at the moment.
If anyone is interested, there is a petition over at Whitehouse.gov to have 08/11 declared National Laughter Day in honor of Mr. Williams. It doesn't cost the government anything to do so, I suppose, and it just seems like a great way to honor someone who touched so many lives throughout the world.
I guess it's what he wanted. No more pain. Go in peace.
The military community has really been honoring this loss. One of the greatest videos ever - Camp Arifjan for anyone who has been there. Actually a really fun place:

If nothing else comes of the modern age than having recordings of the people we love and admire than we have accomplished something by making time stand still for a few minutes each time. Thanks for posting the video.
@razorfeld... I had no idea that Robin Williams was diagnosed with Parkinsons recently. I'm actually working in the military to get a device to treat Parkinsons and MS into the public. We're partnered with Montel Williams and moving this into the FDA now:

Yes, I remembr see those, I think you sent the links to me before. Quite stunning. I hope the FDA can move quickly to get this in widespread use.
I watched Charlie Rose's show in memory of Robin last night. It was the highlights of Robin's guest visits with Charlie over the years and was, of course, very well done. I have not seen Charlie laugh so much and both of them had a great time discussing their respective heart surgeries. I think Charlie was as heart broken over what has been lost to us as many of us are.
