Father & Son Time !!!

Taking my youngest son (23) to get his feet wet at NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY tomorrow night. Yes we are racing the 1/4 mile in HIS car. I made my last pass at the track 35 years ago in a '57 Chevy 12.60 @ 109.0O mph. We are going to take turns and see who gets the quickest ET. And it's a 6 sp Standard !!! It's the V6 eng .....but it's pushing 325 HP at the rear wheels...hoping for a 14.5 or bettah !!!

Well the old man still has it !!! Beat the kids best time by .2 ...but my son cut a bettah light ..mine was .054 and his at a lightening quick hole shot at .015 !!! We had a passenger with us..which was cool.... And ran 14.85 @ 95.34... Not as fast as I thought we would run...so some bolt on "stuff " and a chip/ tune might come his Wintah !!

Sounds like you two had a great time! As for bolt-ons to quicken the times, have you guys considered weight reduction, I mean what kind of stuff is he hauling around in the trunk of the car?

Got me remembering at buddy of mine's little '64 Nova he had in high school in the late 60's. 2dr, straight six, three on column, and the biggest 2V carb that Chevy offered. That punk would turn low 13's at our now long gone Green Valley Raceway. That car had the only 6cyl engine I've ever seen with a "double hump" head.

That little thing was real sleeper until he wrapped it around a telephone pole one night.

That's whole lot easier on tires and takes lot less HP than doing them on pavement.

My old man never bothered teaching me that stuff. If I'd tried that in one of his cars and got caught, I'd have even less teeth than I've got now.

I had to burn my own tires as we didn't have snow on regular basis. Working at a wrecking yard had its advantages. I could get a new set of "bald eagles" for $5 any day of the week.

325 would be crank H.P,huge diff between RWH which would be about 380 in a manual tranny car.
