Does anybody know any good automotive repair sites or forums?

No, but if you have a simple question or two (simple - auto repair, yeah right) I'll be happy to ask my father in law. He has owned a shop for 40+years and is considered among the best mechanics in RI.
Now, if you just want to know how to get that Prius of your started: just replace the 2 AA batteries :)
Steve, I have a basic to intermediate knowledge --- I just want to learn more.
It must be nice having such a mechanic available to ya --- did he put you through the ropes when you were dating your wife? --- I always feel like I should know more about cars.
Justin
Hey Justin,
This is a forum for some Japanese cars, they may have some info you need, take a peek:

I am sure there are some others, not sure exactly what kind of info you need though...
He came in handy when my wife and I moved to Missouri. We couldn't find a good mechanic early on so we'd call him and say "the car is doing such and such". He'd tell us what the problem was most likely going to be and about how much we should expect to spend.
Later on, he helped us find a good mechanic and I had complete trust in. On one of his visits to us, I introduced him to this mechanic and they had a grand time together.
No, he never worried about me knowing anything about cars. He was/is always a phone call away and my wife and her two sisters worked in the shop from time to time while growing up. All 3 daughters had something of a basic knowledge by the time they graduated high school.
Have you Googled anything yet?
A quick Google came up with

Don't know if it's in your ballpark but at 0200 hours it's looking like a good cure for insomnia :)
You could look here too:

Useless info? Some would conider this whole forum useless info. You're the Keeper of the Spice of Life -- a little trivia here, a little humour (damn Aussies got me adding extra u's) there --- it's the side roads that make life worth living -- as long as you don't get lost. But what do I know? (but a hell of a lot of useless info)

No matter what you're interested in, chances are there's an obscure internet forum dedicated solely to your hobby.
Take straight razors, for instance -- who'd have thought?
Do a search for your car's make and model and I'll bet there's a forum where fanatics who modify and race them post. They'll tell you all you need to know.
I do all my own work on my vehicles. With every vehicle I've owned the first thing I do is go down to the local parts dealer and buy either a Chilton's or Hayne's manual.
I actually like the Hayne's manuals best. they are based on a complete tear down of the car!!
And for you computer geeks out there, this means no greasy keyboard keys!!
Mark Avery
Thanks Mark (there's Avery Island -- home of Tabasco sauce in Louisiana --- just to let you know)
I own the Haynes manual for the car --- really everything I need but I like having other references to help get a more general understanding -----if I ever need to overhaul an engine on a desert island ,
Justin
My richer relatives that I never met actually owned Avery island!!
Don't Know if they still do or not!?
Sounds neat!!!
