Birnando, Norway's got Talent has produced the most remarkable singer I have ever heard. I was watching The View this morning because I wanted to see how Whoopie Goldberg and Rosie McDonald got along, both being such strong personalities. A segment near the end of the program had Rosie introduce NGT winner, an 8 year old girl who claimed she had been singing Jazz since age 1-1/2. I forget the song, most likely a Jazz standard, because the instant she opened her mouth and started singing I forgot about the words and was trapped in the quality of voice, the phrasing, the Jazz riffs, and the demeanor in which this spite of a child channeled every great Jazz singer I could think of. Ella Fitzgerald comes to mind (I just went blank on a list of other great female Jazz singers), plus some touches of Edith Piaf and Lena Horne. She has a maturity of adultness in her voice and modulated the emotions to the point of goosebumps on my arms. I hope she puts out an album because I want, need and covet one. I am rarely moved by singers but what this child does is beyond belief. Norway is a land of secrets to harbor such a talent.
