You know winter is coming after putting on winter-tires on all cars and you need an ice-scrape to see jack out of the windshield in the morning.. Oh, and that it is pitch black outside when leaving to work and returning home again in the afternoon.

All I can think of is Game of Thrones.
Around here it was determined yesterday. Long jeans went on instead of shorts and the jacket was thrown in the back seat of the car just this morning!
Yes, we've been hit bang on November 1st before...having the roofing people looking at my house as I write this...the ice storm last year basically destroyed my roof...was 20 years old anyhow...but have to get it replaced before winter slams us again...I can stand -35, even throw in a good wind chill, but massive ice storm knocking trees down and cutting the power for a week, I'll pass....hope it's not a bad year...also ordered a 1/2 cord of wood, would have come in handy last year.
In the Pacific Northwest you know winter is coming because its overcast/raining all day instead of only 12 hrs. :(
About 1/2 way through spring here and it's going to be 34 on Monday. Just thought I'd mention that :D
