Barnard was not a Pioneer in cardiac Transplants,I have actually met him and talked with him.
Norman Shumway was the pioneer (who I worked for.
for 5 yrs)
Barnard came to stanford (when I was there) and learned how transplants were done.
Went back to africa and did the first one because in africa they had no legal issues with donors,we did.
We were ready to do the first human Transplant long before Barnard but the county coroner shut us down because there was no definition of braindead at that time.Been there, done that.

My wife's med insurance costs went from $540 a quarter to $1,200+ a quarter. What a crock of crap. I pay more so others can pay less. :(

Social security is what the name implies. It was never intended to be sole support and it was never intended to be the same as an investment vehicle. Sure if you had your money to invest you might be getting a check for 4x as much now and on the other hand if things went south you could be getting less than you do now. That was the point. You would be guaranteed something no matter what happened which when looked at in light of the great depression where so many lost everything guaranteed a minimum income. Your savings and investments make up the rest. What no savings or investments? Shame on you. That's the conservative way anyway. You need to be responsible for yourself and if you are not too bad.

If you want Govt off your back and the nanny state then you don't get to pick and choose programs because YOU like one and not the other. You want them all gone.

I stand corrected. None the less Barnard did the first "human" heart transplant and it was not done in the US.

How do you propose I get back all the money that I invested for the last 40 years ????

SS and Medicare are Entitlements, ie: we are Entitled to them we invested "by force" so we own part of them we have a "Title"..

Neither program had any issues until the Feds (both sides) started adding people to the roles that did not invest, and also borrowed from the programs...

I am not even going to bother bringing up the fraud in both systems..

I just want what I put in for 55 years. I don't even care about any interest I just want MY MONEY BACK. :)

I think your misconception is that you believe this is your money - it isn't your money anymore than the salary of your congressman, senator, local police etc. is your money that you get to have back if you're not happy with the goods it bought you.
It's a tax you pay so that you get to live in this society and enjoy the benefits of that.
