Wullie that pic from Carlsbad , reminds me when I was still working where was that? They get some serious weather out there when it does rain , last year a guy that worked casing for us drowned out the. It was around November , he was trying to get across a low water spot on 285. Be careful down there guys. Tc

Hey TC, That was taken from the second floor of the older motels on the South end of town. That storm was a monster. It popped up right over Carlsbad and headed East into the panhandle. Washed a bunch of mud over 62/180 in several places.Quote:

My ex-wife and kids live out in Dallas, so I have been keeping track. They are high and dry. They say that Texas got an average of about 7.5 inches of rain so far in May with a few days left which is like 1.5-2 inches more than normal. Obviously some spots go a lot more. That shows you how much hills and valleys impact water flow because 7.5 inches would be a REALLY powerful rain in Miami..........for one day!!!! The worst I ever saw in South Florida was 25 inches in 8 hours in West Palms Beach and that caused some pretty seriously flooding but 7.5 inches would not. in 1977, we had like 14-15 inches in one afternoon in Mimai and after 2 days, the only standing water near me was on a little 9 hole golf course that was essentially built in a giant shallow sinkhole and fill with packed fill dirt and golf course grass. Up here in the Tampa Bay area where we actually do have some hills, 3 or more inches in one day will get the rivers and stream up a bit and push the tides up.
I know the ones you stayed in , just down the road from walmarts, that area is where I spent the last 3 years of my career drilling, I wish you luck in the career move , although I hope it isn't in the oilfield, all my guys tell me that they are laying off just about everyone . Yep we tore heck out of the roads, but Carlsbad area all the way down to pesos is ok with it, now the bust is there those towns will be ghost towns again till it comes back, and it's always the new guys who think it will last, because it doesn't , I've got 40 years in it and it goes up and down all the time ,, I,m not worried about it any more, retired and loving it. hope you get what your wanting ,, and stay dry where your at all the best to the flood victims. Your side of the biz seem to be consolidating after the slump, so I would suspect that it will come back sooner rather than later. Buying oil from elsewhere is getting less and less attractive every day.Quote:
