    Default Cecil the Lion

Office front of the dentist who shot the rare beloved lion. Palmer is still in hiding and has received threats.

Poaching threatens wildlife populations all over the world. It is a sad state of affairs. I think that there are a lot more wealthy people conducting illegal hunts than most imagine. This is one of hundreds that happen every day. The tip of the iceberg so to speak. The issue is massive and rarely gets any real attention.

Could not agree more. There is a huge difference between legal hunting and what that dentist did.

Only comment I am going to make on the subject is that one must be a rather poor guide/ hunter to resort to luring an animal off a protected area to kill it. Unsportsmanlike conduct if there is such a thing for trophy hunters.

No just greedy as I am fairly sure this particular lion was the intended target of the luring/baiting. What better trophy than the rarer black maned lion.

Seems there is another person accused of illegally hunting and killing a lion in a separate incident Pennsylvania gynecologist accused of illegally killing lion in Hwange National Park with bow and arrow | National Post . Odd isn't it that bows were the weapon of choice in both cases, wonder why under the circumstances.
