I have no idea where you went nessmuck and Tom. The paintings are cool.
Here in NH...they have these “ Paint Bars” .....they serve wine and beer and snacks. They supply all the paint and canvas ,brushes. You just walk in..lay down some cash....and an Instructor is at the front of the room ,walking you step by step through that evenings painting. You can go on line and see what painting you like...and sign up for that class. The whole class does the same painting. That pic was my 3-4 th painting.....the more you do...the better you get.
Here there is a place called "painting with a twist". You can send a photo and they will turn it into a paint by number. We hosted a couple of fundraisers there, but I never went.
After moving the plumbing in the wall and replacing the light fixtures and patching the wall back up. I got the new Vanity and top installed. Moved the lights again, then patched and finished the down stairs half bath. It was a lot of work but the end product turned out nice...

When Tc rode from TN to Walla Walla 5 years a go he brought a Demon Bell with him.
This is found on many sites that sell the bells--
Legend has it that Evil Road sprirts have been latching on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell on your bike The Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where pot holes come from?) Legend also has it that the mystery of the Motorcycle Bells (demon Bells, Spirit Bells) carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift.
I've also read that the bell MUST be taken off of a bike being sold and to help it hold it's powers that a friend or loved one must attach it. So my neighbor (Mike) who just purchased a '21 HD Sportster and I agreed to install each other's bells. We did so a few nights ago. We both used blue Loctite and torqued the nuts down pretty tight.
I had selected a bolt location pretty low on my 'new' bike and yesterday I went for a ride to my buddy Ski's home. I quickly heard noises when I leaned into a right hand turn and realized that it was the bell hitting the pavement. :banghead: When I got home I decided to use my 18V Makita Impact Driver to remove the nut just to save time.
Oops--I guess between being made by the C. H. Ina company, not being designated for impact use and Mike really torquing that nut down; the quick connect for the driver to the socket is done--and NO the nut didn't come off---Attachment 332333

Damn. Getting a little Ham Fisted?
I always had a bell on my bikes. It had to be given to me by a friend but I always put it on.
I just finished changing the looks of a few stairs going down to the family room.
Before was done years ago. They wefe not very solid as they would shift a bit. They never looked good to us. It took me a bit to fid a picture before. Just ignore the kitty.

Here they are after...

I stripped everything off down to rough cut wood and recovered all with 1/4" board and covered the steps with a precut step cover. Turned out nice
Dammit. Now the wife is talking about doing a full flight of stairs the same way because it looks so nice. You know how much of a pain it was to cut the boards to cover the sides of the stairs? I dont know what you call that part but with all the notches needed to be cut perfect it really took some time and measuring and testing over and over. And this was just 4 stairs. :banghead:
Perry Mason wouldn't argue with this. I rest my case:
The Husband Store
A store that sells new husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store choose a husband operates.
You may visit the store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch: you may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband and gets in the elevator...
On the first floor the sign reads:
Floor 1 - These men have jobs. She thinks, Oh that's nice but there has to be better.
On the second floor the sign reads:
Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids. She thinks, Oh that's better but there has to get better.
On the third floor the sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor.
On the fourth floor the sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
On the fifth floor the sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:
On the sixth floor the sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 3,261,496,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
Great job! I learned from you not to let my wife see any of my work!
Wull. I am proud of what Jerry accomplishes. I have always admired his workmanship.
Were I not so lazy, I might do some of that!
Lazy me!
.................;)
I have been questionable about this site recently but will leave it now to the rest of you
I'd love to have a book like that, Tim. As I've learned everything by trial and error. Or by doing it the long and hard way. I have a few squares. I guess it would help if I understood what some of the info on one means besides measuring.
But I also must say that the house has settled over the many many years and not much is square any longer. OR, it was built by a one-eyed carpenter.:rofl2:
I reckon the square goes back to ancient times. Men have likely forgotten more than they know?
I bet you will do a great job on the big stairs too Jerry, the small set looks good. Both the steel square, or framing square have some tricks to them. I am far more inclined to check you tube than to read much. The information proccess better if it goes in both my eyes and my ears at the same time.
Good idea Shaun. I do fall back on youtube now and then when I need instruction. I shall watch a few vids on the stairs and Squares to see if it helps. Thanks.
Anal?
OK, my new iron horse has a chrome nut with knurling and a slot to take off the seat.
Attachment 332833
As you can see others have dinged up the slot using screwdrivers that are too small for the task at hand.
SO I purchased a 'Drag Link Socket' for a 3/8" drive. I knew the male that goes into the slot was too big as it was advertised as 1/8" wide. So I ground the male down until it would fit in the slot (the final width is about 5/64ths), then rounded the ground area back to the rounded area and then sanded and polished it to remove most of the scratches. Then I blued that area.
Attachment 332834
It fits very nicely in the slotted head but with some clearance. The bolt is between the passenger back rest and the back of the seat to to get to it. things come in at an angle but I've tested and it works very well:tu

I’ll get you a picture but there’s a much easier way
Another project/home upgrade done and off the books. I replaced the range exhaust fan but it was a little smaller so the ugly wall showed above the backsplash. So I took the fan down tiled the wall then put the fan back up.

Glass tiles. All done.
I sure hope to get a break soon. Ha.
Excellent, Jerry! :bow
Very nice work my friend!
Any old saying goes: "There's no rest for the wicked" :w
Years ago things were really busy at work, the department had a sickie call in and so we were short handed and a customer commented on how hard I was working and I told her 'There's no rest for the wicked' and she immediately shot back 'And the Righteous Don't Need It"!
It was all I could do to keep from smiling, let alone laugh as I found it so funny how she had so quickly shot her remark back.
If you keep this excellent handyman stuff up, that bride of yours may just hire you out on your off days. :nono:
You are pretty handy Jerry.
You know the other saying... Im a Jack-off of all trades and a master of none.
Or something like that. :rofl2:
Todays project took 9 hours and Im beat!
When we had the plumbing done and had the front yard dug up I had them dig out 7 rose bushes that were along the front of the house. So the dirt grade was way too low when they finished. So I had to bring in some soil and grade the yard so water runs away from the house.
Then built a retaining wall/raised flower bed and filled it.
Damn Im tired. Tomorrow I will plant some new plants of some kind.

Nice work Jerry.
You have been super productive there Jer!
Place is lookin very nice my friend.
:tu
Nice work and lots to be proud of there, accomplishment wise.
Roy, you are so right. But the list is narrowed down to just a couple more things now. Thank god!
That really looks good Jerry! Maybe some rose bushes?
I was thinking something that you would be more likely to eat, like berry bushes. Blueberries look good and taste good.
I wanted to go with a couple of veggie plants but the wife wanted flowers and bushes. We got rid of the old roses when doing this to start. My arms and hands can't take the thorns. They eat me up! SWMBO wins so flowers and bushes.
I also got some grass seed put down in front of the bed, a Drip system rebuilt and installed for watering, and dug up the clean-outs for the house plumbing. Covered them with the 6" green round sprinkler boxes so they can be gotten too easy if need be.

New windows for the entire house coming in the next couple of months. That is another job I will drink beer and watch.
