Have You Heard the Hum?

This thread is oddly timed. A few weeks ago i woke up to what i thought was pipes vibrating in the walls. Ive heard it a few times since then early in the morning before i get up. I know it isnt the pipes because i know what the pipes in this apartment sound like.

Now im freaked out about it.

I regularly hear someone walking around upstairs in high heels.

I live on the top floor. And there's no roof access in my building.

Not to sound silly but a couple things come to mind.

Termites can create a rumble eating your home.

Is it in tune with droughts or overly wet seasons?

Any mining or fracking in your area?

Near a fault line?

Constant tone tinnitus here. 2 different tones going all the time. Never hear the hum though. I seen people have all over the world.

Now that i know its a thing i want to hear it again. Maybe i wont wonder so much where its coming from.. Ill just think to myself 'Its the noise from the straight razor forum'.

Relate to that. After Nam I'm half deaf and tinnitus fills what I can't hear. It can get annoying at times when its louder than people talk. Har!

Another thought is sometimes water pipes/lines can produce some bazaar rumblings.

I would think you recognize 60 cycle hums so not electrical.

+1 for no effect on the tinnitus the ear plugs or muffs just make it worse as it is all you can hear. this I know 1st hand

I had fairly bad Tinnitus in the early '90's from a band I was in at the time, I took a few years off of very loud playing and it actually improved. I still have it but I don't have to run a fan at night to kill the sound like I used to.

Maybe a neighbor has a rock tumbler? Supposed to just run it at night simce it takes 10 or so hours and can be absurdly loud?
