Attachment 243340 For those in the same boat as I. Maybe this will cheer you up today. It's not that we get older and forget it's that the older we get the more we have to remember and sometimes we leave the none important things behind and just concentrate on the important things . Like Have fun today. Just a thought i had when i saw this .

I always have tended to derail my own trains of thought so I probably won't even notice my decline.
Like my pappy used to say "getting old is no fun".
You just have to come up with a system to help you remember things.
There is a site called "Lumosity". They have these "brain" games and they do work. They won't push back the clock 20 years but I've found it to be well worth the cost.
It is like I had a DSL (brain) and now I've got a dial up. I'll try and remember someone's name, that would have been immediately retrieved 10 years ago, but now it may take 45 minutes, or 3 hours. The download is still working, but the old grey mare ain't what she used to be .......... :o

Interesting you mention Luminosity, with my wife's dementia from the Huntingdons disease, mind games and actually board games helps her with her recall, and has helped me too, cause I have some short term recall problems. But the Luminosity helps. Tc
It's said that as we age, memory is the second thing to go...

You just may have something there. I do know this the older I get the more time slips away. Memories of my youth and the good times come to mind and the one's I just as soon forget happily I have or at-least put them far enough back that they don't count. For the young among us make good memories and the old fogies like me get what my wife tells me i have and that's a selective memory. (kind of like my hearing)Quote:

it's a proven fact the older you get the faster time seems to pass. There are many theories for this. Personally I think it's the same deal like when you are expecting a new razor and they say 2 months and it seems to take forever but when you have a dentist's appointment in 2 months it seems to come really fast.
You start to realize at some point your days are numbered and you want time to pass more slowly but like that dentist appointment it just accelerates.
The above is an accurate statement, but there is one exception I've found. The last week of work, before you retire..... takes FOREVER!Quote:

Drink lots of water, stay hydrated.
My father in law had dementia, that eventually went to full Alzheimer’s. I was amazed at what a bottle of water would do for him.
He had a bout, was hospitalized and a Gerontologist told us he was dehydrated and to make sure he drank water.
Problem was, he did not like drinking water cause then he’d have to pee, so he just carried a bottle, but would not drink it. Next thing you know, he running around in his underwear, and not know who we were.
We’d give him a bottle of water and 15 minutes later he was normal.
The real time action seems ephemeral and the old memory's seem solid.Quote:
