Just a scrub and polish today. Off comes the little pointy bits. On goes the sealer. For those who may be wondering about slippery when wet? The sealing material has small silicone grains in it. Perfect traction without affecting the visual appearance.
A Dawn to Dusk Extravaganza !!!
Time to start prepping the walls. A nice early start. But wait what's this. A delivery! Yippee the liner arrives. Let's rock and roll. Scrap and clean the bottom. Start hanging the liner (shallow end first) and work it into the corners. More scrapping, more hanging, more vacuuming, more hanging and before you know it the liner is sitting in place. Now for some big time suction. This baby pulls out a lot of air. Magically the liner sits down in place. Let the water works begin. Need to get the level up to the black tape line. Should take between 18 to 20 hours. Will see what the morning brings. Getting closer to a swim.

Shoulda wrote yer name and date on the concrete before they covered it up....
Looks marvelous, and with the weather we've been having, you might yet get a couple of weeks splash time out of it....

And did not know that about the diving board, can't install a diving board due to liability, that truly is an example that the inmates have taken over the asylum.

I think these days they sell jumping rocks, not diving boards. Even up here in the country, no new installs have boards.
My sister went the fiberglass climbable rock route for her pool install. Neat, but not the same.
Having a board these days is like a vintage collectable. Need to keep it in good shape as they aren't replaceable.

In my neck of the woods you have 3 options. Gunite (like a concrete), vinyl liner with steel walls behind or preformed fiberglass. Most expensive by a lot is gunite because it has to be built to withstand harsh winter weather and extreme ground frost. Since my pool started life as a vinyl liner it was going to be much less expensive to do this reno keeping it that way. Putting in a gunite pool would likely be about $40k - $60k difference.
