Default I can't believe I passed this up

I found this at a local pawn shop this morning and yes that is real scrimshaw and Ivory.

I ended up telling the shop owner what it was and he pulled it off the shelf so it looks like no one's ever going to get it but I I will tell you that it was dirt cheap for fake saber let alone a real one with authentic scrimshaw ivory. [emoji7] [emoji36] [emoji25]

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

A quick internet search of pax aut bellum led to similar examples. It's an Odd Fellows sword.

I think I'm going to go talk to them in the morning. I have the odd feeling they might throw it away

The three chain links are what tipped me off....

Many old tombstones have the three chain links and some words. Many of the other symbols are shared with freemasonry.

    Have a great day...
