Beautiful Paul!
You think that's creepy? How about this?

215 lb python, 18 ft long. Caught in Picayune Strand State Forest, Naples. That's down by our friend JBHoren.
And the state bird of Mississippi is the mosquito!
But honestly, the worst mosquitoes are in the northern states. Riding around Wisconsin at a Harley rally in summer, you had to stop every once in a while to clean the carcasses of your windshield and any exposed parts. Best to wear leathers because leather cleans up easily.
My hand is just there for perspective. I was trying not to touch it so I didn't damage the wings
There is proof. I can't cite it properly but I saw a thing about DDT and the fact that malaria was eradicated in the Americas by it but because of the ban in the US the UN will not allow it to be used in Africa where.it is rampant
In my area, when the sun goes down there's an erie, high pitched whine that comes first, from the woods, and gets louder the darker it gets. Reminiscent of a air raid of B-17s from WWII.
On hot humid, full moon nights, we've had small children carried off by them, and live stock drained of all bodily fluids. :rofl2:
I came from England. I don't remember mosquitos there, but it might have been my geography.
The first time i got mosquito-ed here i swollen up like the elephant man and black flies, OMG, they don't do the mosquito itchy thing, those little sods bite holes!
Yeah....we get a taste of them, too. Nothing like up there, though. The deer fly takes its place once u get away from lake Erie, in Ohio.
Not sure why but we dont have many insects. Sure they are around but not like I've seen in other areas of the US.
The bloody flies and mozzies will drive ya nuts here in summer. Good repellant does the job.
stagnent water is where they reproduce. Even old tires etc.
We don't have much trouble at my campground area that is very moist with a creek and stream in it but the water is moving.
10 minutes at dusk they can bother you but then it ends.
Then the Fireflies start!!!!
The fire flys come first, here. That's when I start hearing them in the woods. All hell till around 11-12 o'clock. Then it's bug free till break of light, then we're hit again, just not as bad. I hardly fish in the earnings, anymore, their that bad. No Deet, your mosquito meat.
I've started to embrace the outdoors and fresh air, well i drink on the porch does that count.
Where does it start, or end?

Can you say "child abuse?"
Can’t ‘like’ it, but totally agree on that spin.

"All Nature seems at work. Slugs leave their lair—
The bees are stirring—birds are on the wing—
And Winter slumbering in the open air,
Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring!
And I the while, the sole unbusy thing,
Nor honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing..."
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Looks like the lawn ivy we have up here.
Yeah, thats from my back yard. They bloom in early spring.
