What do you carry in your pocket or on your belt

These two knives are daily carries for me. I use them strictly for whatever work is at hand. No knife play for me. I have a handful of pocket knives so when I take a fancy I can switch my pocket carry, but these two are always on a sheath by my side!
I've got a couple of real special knves when I dress to the nines though!

The first picture is a Tony Bose/Case collaberation. It is a "muskrat" with antique bone scales. The other is a reproduction of a William Scagel folder It is an "English Jack", also known as a "Granddaddy Barlow" with stag scales. This knife would have been a common carrier around the late 18 early 1900's.

Money Clip (usually filled with $2 bills), Wallet, coin pouch (filled with dollar coins, usually), reciepts, notes, and a fountain pen in the shirt pocket.

Can't forget my cellphone, and sometime (on my belt) my 2m/70cm dual band Ham Radio Handy Talkie.

Oh yeah, also, my Kershaw Onion Knife.

I don't use my pockets anymore - I've discovered the joys of a satchel (aka "manbag") when I'm out and about.

But I don't own any knives per se - I keep one of those leatherman wave multi-tools in my bag. Very handy.

I generally don't keep much in my pockets, my pants pocket that it.
Not quite a multi-tool, but this no name little multi-knife which lives in a pocket of my shoulder satchel comes in very handy quite frequently, even in an urban setting.

Canada's version of the Swiss army knife!

Always on me, 2 silver dollars, keys, wallet, Cell phone, and ether a Spyderco Economy I got in '84 or a Leatherman Lite I won at a DCM shoot.

The coins where to keep my hands busy after I quit smoking 14 years ago, and I still have the same two.

The Leatherman I won at a DCM shoot that I was to be grading. Turned out we needed one more shooter for the line and I drew the short straw. Problem was that I didn't have anything to shoot. One of the shooters was into WW2 reanactments and had a M1 Garand in his trunk. I was able to scrounge up the 44 rounds needed to compeat and got into position.

Now I don't know how many here shoot competitivly but this is one of those worst nightmares we have. Wake up at the shoot, get handed an unknown rifle, unknown ammo, to shoot at a range you have never been on. Well after checking out the rifle to make sure it was safe to put rounds down range, I went about trying to center the sights. I had 5 minutes till the first spoters where to be fired so there was no time to even see where this rifle shot.

I fired my 2 spoters and noted that I was about 4" right and just about 12" high. Not knowing what the clicks where on this rifle with this ammo I just played it on Kentucky windage aiming a foot low and to the right of the front sight...

I took 3rd place out of 30 shooters... I'm not to sure what that means but I feel that little leatherman was well earned :D

Thats a neat story!

due to hip problems I've quit carrying a wallet, so I carry a small leather credit card holder. It holds my drivers license quite nicely. My cash I carry in a money clip, when I have any that is lol. When I carry a knife I either carry a small case stockman minus the case shield which was a gift from my father or a Smith & Wesson lockback"S.W.A.T." knife, marked "First Millenium Run" on the blade. Also a cell phone, insulin pump and occasionally a Yaesu FT50 dual band hand held ham radio.Sometimes there is a guitar pick or a thumb drive thrown into the mixture lol.

Back in my younger days, I carried a large bone handled Parker Imai lockback that had an eagle scrimshawed into the handle by a now deceased friend. I got to where I could grab the knife by the edge of the blade, flip it open and toss it in the air in one motion, and catch it by the handle. It was just something to do, idle hands and all that, I had no idea it would keep me from taking a beating.

While visiting in Washington State I got to where I'd take long walks, one day I rounded a corner and a small sport ute came through an intersection (from my left going right) got partially through the intersection and did a quick turn right in front of me. Four or five guys came piling out of the vehicle, not knowing what they wanted but knowing it didn't appear they wanted to be friends. It didn't look good, I weighed 135lbs soaking wet at the time and I was by myself, so I only had one option, the knife. I whipped the knife out, catching it in mid air and they all did an about face and climbed back into the sport ute and hauled butt. LOL I stood there a moment shaking in my boots and laughing at the same time. :roflmao :eek:

As I had never heard of a manbag before I decided to look for a picture on ebay. (great source for pictures BTW).

On a more serious note, no longer hijacking this thread: I hardly ever carry a knife on me and if I do it is a Swiss Army knife. My pockets are full enough as they are with handkerchief, keys, wallet and often a mobile phone (an 8 year old one that's rather big, size fridge my daughters tell me).

I had a similar experience once except I was carrying old club ( made to kill animals I had caught in traps as a child) to deal with some nasty dogs down the street and it was tucked under my coat. (CW)

4 guys piled out and came after me
I just kept walking to let them get close........

I beat 3 of them pretty badly, the driver in particular since I chased them all back to the Jeep managed to shut the door so he couldn't get back in to drive off.

I wonder what they told the people at the hospital??

Well, right now is pretty typical for what I carry every night as I just came home from my 3rd shift hotel job. Wallet, credit card case, comb, 2 pens, handkerchief and kleenex, Molina Russian made pocket watch in a belt case, Traveler Swiss Army knife in a belt case, Spyerco Calypso Jr., key ring on a kubaton with Swiss Army Classic knife, and a Schrade Simon knife, and here's the kicker, a Smart Carry holster with a Smith & Wesson Chief's Special .38 snubnose revolver and a Spyderco Endura knife in the extra pocket. On foot I always carry an oak stockman's cane. Only had to hit one pit bull with it once. Usually dogs see it and back off; they're not stupid. This particular pit bull was so intent on killing my dog that he wasn't paying any attention to me at all. Till I whacked him.

edited to add: Forgot a couple items. A Mini-Maglite in a belt holster and there's also pepper spray on the key ring.

At least if they ever make a movie about you, there will be lots of interesting material. My life makes for a pretty boring movie compared to yours.
Then again, I am not sure that I mind that much. :)

I don't generally carry a knife, but do keep a laguiole and an old schrade melon tester knife in my office for slicking up my fruit, not to mention my little swiss army knife.

When I'm out and about, I often take my Gerber E-Z Out with me - its got a slim profile, clip and can be opened one handed.

What is usually in my pockets while I am at work:
- Credit card holder with debit card, CC & my driver's licence
- Cell phone (Sony Ericcson W810i)
- iPod Mini
- cord for my Bose Headphones
- Swiss Army Knife

While out not at work:
everything minus the iPod and headphones,
- possibly my bluetooth headset when not using it
- Keys

The knife was actually my grandfather's in which he received it from doing a roofing job with his crew back in the day. The owner was so appreciative of the work and other jobs they did he gave them all knives as a token of gratitude. It was something that I would always see him using so before he passed away (April 21, 2007 from cancer: liver, lung and pancreas) I asked him and my grandma if I would be able to have it. Every time I would see him around his house or the cottage he would be using it for something and it would ALWAYS be sharp as hell.

I have also his hones for this knife so I am trying to find people to help me get the basics of knife honing (such as how to keep the angle and such).

Man bags and fanny packs? Trouble with those things is you end up carrying too much crap.

Check out the luggage store at your local mall and check out the line of attach to your belt wallets. Some are massive efforts by swiss army but others are small enough to look like a cell phone and can keep your ass from getting numb sitting on a wallet.

I don't carry blades bigger than keychain efforts after getting the business from the 'man'

When I was single though I wouldn't leave the house without a tool. Women will find you more handsome when you are handy.

You'll be hard-pressed to find me without my Emerson CQC-7B knife, keys for too many things, a wallet with little or no cash and a cell phone.

Seriously, though....man-bags are only carried by those so secure in their sexuality that there is no question of what makes their willie winkle. I've seen big, burly bikers on Harley-Davidsons carrying man-bags....they're especially useful if you're riding a bike to and from work (which, somehow, from what little I know of Jimbo, wouldn't surpirse me). Man bags in the United States are common (yes, even in podunk North Idaho) and becoming commoner. Jimbo is just on that cutting edge where fashion and practicality merge. (all too unusual these days!)

In it I carry my PSP and a couple book for down time when I am not billing my time. Oh and a dictaphone with tapes, an umbrella, 5 pens, (not to mention the fountain pen in my shirt pocket), some post-it notes, two highlighters, my portfolio with an extra pad of paper, a swiss army knife, keys, book of matches (cause you just don't know when you will have to burn something), business card holder, ....

Both classic answers. I sometimes carry a lighter with me (even though I don't smoke) just for the smoking hot females who smoke. Always good to remember the lighter. Even though them smoking is a turn off :td

I did omit my everyday accessory, my walking cane of which I have many. My favorites are an oak cane with deer horn handle that my uncle made, a blackthorne from Ireland and one I made myself using a table leg, rabbit fur, and an old clay pipe head for the knob....when looked at sideways it appears to be a peace pipe. I figured since I had to use them, bad back and hips, I may as well collect them.

On the manbag issue......think Jack Bauer.

I have met Steve Smith (Red Green) and Patrick McKenna (Harold Green) before, and actually Harold went to the same highschool as myself. Though he is a little older than me, he did come back when I was there for some improv stuff with our Improv team, which was all showcased in an assembly.

Now that's kewl. I love Red Green, have the dvd of his movie "Duct Tape Forever". Some of the expressions Harold comes up with are priceles. DTF is the one dvd I can turn to that guarantees a laugh. I'm not sure why Red hasn't caught on in America, he came long before Jeff Foxworthy and redneck humor. I used to use the wav of Red saying keep your stick on the ice as a shutdown wav on my computer.

I am a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.
