Are you a Coffee Snob as well?

Clearly, of those posting to date, I have dibs on master coffee snob. I don't hold a candle to the more intense folks on www.coffeegeek.com, though. Check it out.

I have been brewing espresso for many years but bought a prosumer machine (Isomac Zaffiro) and a small commercial grinder (Mazzer Mini) about four years ago. I also home roast and have a pic of green beans as my office computer screen saver (replaced my Billyblades restoration of a King razor as the last one). My current method of roasting is Heat Gun/Dog Bowl, but have tried other popcorn popper machines in past.

My joe is the best in town and I hardly drink coffee outside the house. Had a brilliant surprise with Simon's Coffeeshop in Cambridge, MA last month while visiting for a college reunion. The first place I've been to where the baristas clearly knew how to pull a shot and were able to speak intelligently about their coffee's origin, roasting profile, etc. I have never been to Seattle, unfortunately.

Also a tea fan, current supplier is uptontea.com for several years running.

I only drink espresso.

If you like espresso or just REALLY strong coffee then you HAVE TO TRY

It is a Spanish coffee that a Puerto Rican turned me on to some years ago.

It is best drank from an espresso machine or made "cowboy coffee " style, which means to boil grounds and water in a pan and let gravity be your filter.

I prefer it "Con Leche" which is to heat milk and add it to the coffee.
When properly brewed it is not unreasonable to mix equal amounts of whole milk and coffee to get an acceptable strength reduction.

It does not seem to work well in a drip coffee makers from my experience.

Oh, if you like coffee for the buzz then this stuff is for you, if you don't then add more milk .

I found some rather dry, snobbish reviews here and there but this one is all true.

I have never tried the instant or other stuff but he red and yellow can is very good.

Drank that stuff out in the bush while in cadets. Also have done ranger coffee, which is taking your MRE (Meal ready to eat - American's) or IMP (Individual Meal Packages - Canadian and British) instant coffee and take some hot (not boiling) and place the package in your mouth then a pack of sugar and the water swish it around and swallow. Then there is no use for a cup or anything out in the bush, so that is the fun way to get some caffeine.

I, too, have a Senseo, and like the convenience of brewing one cup at a time, although, I found the Senseo coffee pods just weren't for me....I order my coffee pods from Coolbeans - I like the regular sampler packs, and the Sumatra Mandehling - if you order a minimum of $40 worth, shipping is free.

I also really like the Aerobie Coffee Press - it makes a really rich, smooth cup of coffee - I always get comments when I share it.

If I were to summarize, I'd say the Senseo is faster and easier, the Aerobie is marginally better....but I enjoy them both.

I have a plain brewer at home, and at work we have machine coffee. Though those machines are the best I have experienced so far. The brand is autobar, and I was told they are made in Germany and considered among the best.

But in my 9 years as a software consultant I learned to drink anything that was black and had caffeine.

Everyone keeps talking about STRONG STRONG coffee for that added caffeine. Though you all realize that the milder coffee's are the ones that have more caffeine in the beans per cup ... Just so you actually know the truth. :hmmm:
