One big difference is that in soccer, you cannot put novices on the field with only a specific role, which is easier in for example baseball or American football. You really can't do anything in soccer until you learn to maintain and play your position.

A Belgian soccer ethusiast explained to me that as soon as the kids are 8 years old or so, they teach this by putting them on the field in positions that look like a 2 dimensional drawing of an airplane. And then they have to go up and down the field as a whole (passing the ball) and try to keep the airplane 'drawing' intact. This is important because in order to become good players, they need to be able to handle the ball and race back and forth while maintaining their relative positions.

Tomorrow they will play the deciding game. I think Belgium has a good chance of winning. Or rather, they were never as ready to win as they were now.

However at the next world cup in Qatar, my loyalty may be split, this is a view of Khalifa Stadium in Doha, taken from my window, I may stroll across to see some matches. I have four years to blag some VIP tickets.

How the heck are they going to get the stadia cool enough for players and fans?? I just can't get my head around temperatures as high as what you get there!

That will be an amazing experience: the world cup literally on your doorstep.

A little controversial, the 2022 tournament will be held in December.
Currently the temparature is 41 C, due to rise to 46C over the next 4 days.

Belgium's achilles heel is their defense but it would be nice to see a Belgium - France next. Go 'Rode Duivels'.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings but I might get my prediction come through. Regardless the outcome I'm pretty proud how my Belgian team is holding their own and kicking ass.
