Moving to sunlight

Its taken 1.5 years but Im finally going to be moved to a day shift. My new schedule will be 5am to 5pm and off work Wednesday and Thursday. Not a perfect schedule but its a start. So I will see a lot more sunlight soon and sleep at night. This is going to take a little time to get use too but should go easier than when I went to the night shift.

This also means I will have to deal with even more Denver traffic. Thank god Im paid by the hour. At times it can take 90 minutes to get across Denver during rush hour when at night it can be done in 20 minutes.

Next week is going to be a rough one for me but in the end all will be better. So the Gasman will not be up all night any longer.

I worked the overnight shift for years.
It was a great shift to work with way less supervision.
The only drawback was that no matter how much sleep that I got, I always felt tired.
Man is supposed to sleep at night.
I think you will adapt nicely Jerry.

Good onya mate !! I am on nightshift as I write this (downunder), as stated it has its upside, fewer bosses and you can get those awkward jobs done with much less interference. I have found nights easier to deal with as I have got older, been doing shift work since 1979. Retirement is looking good. Cheers and best of luck from Heelerau

I admit things go smooth on the night shift, but I don't really have bosses to worry about any time. Dispatch is there for when I need something but they don't call me. I think the last time I saw or talked to "the boss" was 3 or 4 months ago. Guess I will see him more soon. Hell, He might ask who I am. Ha.

Any shift has its pluses and minuses. It is when you rotate them that I hate.

One time I worked with my Chief Engineer for one day and he handed me the keys to the plant to open the next morning. I worked Friday Saturday and Sunday while he worked the rest.

I didn't see him for 6 months until that shift ended. I worked with him many years after that and he said that he had "his spies" and knew I was doing well so there was no reason.

In my opinion the less you see the boss the better things are going!

Sunglasses! Thanks Mike. I hadn't thought of that one. Now to find some clip-ons for my real glasses. Wheres my list? Got to write that down.

Leonard, Im not sure about a normal life, but at least I don't have to pretend Im a night owl any longer.
