Veteran's Day 2019, A Thank You

Just wanted to make a place where we could thank or honor anyone who has served. Please feel free to add anyone you wish to thank or honor to this thread.

My Dad, Frank M. Miller, 458th Parachute Field Artillery, 13th Airborne, WWII. Dad enlisted Dec. 9th 1941, 2 days after the Pearl Harbor attack. I still wear his wings on a chain every day. Miss you Dad.

Thank you to all the men and women that have served and are now serving in the military. Thank you also to their families who sacrifice by months of separation from those that serve.

I've posted before about how I like what Canada does on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and that's to stop for 2 minutes of silence to honor those who had served.

Several years ago a singer songwriter was in a store in Nova Scotia when the announcement of the two minutes of silence were to begin. He witnissed a man with a young child berate a clerk who refused to ring his purchase up so he wrote this song and made the video.

God bless all those past, present and future who have and who will soon serve.

I say future because we have family in Ohio that has an 18 year old son that is in U.S.M.C. basic training, Parris Island as we speak. He is doing well and due to graduate in early January.

Never knew the whole poem but that verse is now forever etched in my mind after so many Remembrance Day services. Thanks for posting that.

I took my daughter to my local church on Sunday, that very poignant part of the poem is always read by a someone whom either served or grew up in the war except the last verse which is read by one of the children.
After my daughter drew and made poppies, it was nice hearing that she is learning about Remembrance Day at school.
