Bob as you know I have no problem with wearing a face mask, keeping a distance while in public and avoiding large gatherings.

Personally I think that those that do have a problem with such simple acts are selfish, only considering themselves and not thinking about how their actions are like the old adage of dropping a single pebble in a calm pool of water creates ripples that spread far from where the pebble was dropped.

Some are also ignorant and don't realize how their actions can affect others.

And of course there are always the ones who know what their actions are capable of doing but have their heads so far up their derriere that they can't see the light.

This is the old U.S, land of the free and ain't nobody gonna tell me what to do.

As long as we have these troglodytes things won't change and we will never ever be rid of this virus cause 10s of millions here alone will refuse the vaccine and that combined with (probably) a less that even 90% effectiveness will ensure it's propagation.

Maybe they need to erect camps and put all the non compliers in there to protect the general population. You know the old saying about no accounting for stupid.

Well actually you are told what to do and it's by many people.

You're told how fast you can drive. You're told when you have pay for the license of your vehicles and how much, You're told how much insurance you are required to be able to drive those vehicles. You're told when you are required to file your Income taxes along with Property taxes. Corporations and Individuals tell you what hours you can shop their business and often times how you must be dressed, the old No Shirt No Shoes No Service is very often in place. That old signage has been expanded to include No Mask No Service.

The amount of decisions you are allowed to make all on your own is actually quite limited.

I believe that my point about selfishness and ignorance covers this.

I see no need for extremes as camps as someone would need to be told what they needed to do.

Around here they have cried Wolf so many times they are getting the opposite reaction that they want.

If the numbers don't get to what they predicted they change the way they count.......

Yea, a few months ago folks were saying it's a N.Y or California thing, not my worry. So look at it now. Maybe you don't have a big problem where you live but eventually you will.

Numbers here are down. Last month we were seeing COVID every day and moving them to our COVID hospital where we had 3 ICU's, each with 13 beds and they all filled. Since then the numbers have declined. Closed one of the ICU's. As of Monday we had 17 ICU patients. I hope it stays this way. As a system we went from a high of 154 total hospitalized patients down to 55 and now we are at 72.

It's a weird disease. One guy I know got it and ended up on ECMO for 27 days. One of my friends who works with me got it as well and he only had 1 day of fever. 3 days later he was up and riding his bike. He is finishing his 10 day isolation tomorrow and back to work. Both guys are the same age and no other medical issues.

When I was a teenager my mother made the sweeping statement: " No one any good goes into politics".
50 years later I can see why she said this. In the UK where I am, those in charge of dealing with Covid 19 have made bad decisions right from the (late) start. The UK government appears to consist mainly of people lacking practical knowledge or basic common sense. I think many other countries have managed to elect inept, self-serving fools in much the same way as we in the UK have. Having said all that, perhaps it's also true that the politicians are no different to many of the people they represent.

Politics is rotten to the core. Some countries are worse than others and many folks go into it only to enrich themselves. Highly competent people stay away from it so who's left?

The story has been the same since day one. In this country it used to be folks entered politics as poor a paupers and retired multi millionaires on meager salaries. These days they enter bankrolled and just get richer.

Unfortunately when a crisis happens and things stop running themselves and you have people like this running the show you be in big trouble.

Like they say, you can rob folks with a gun or a pen. Some say using a gun is more honest.

The media plays a large role in allowing much of this to happen. Selective reporting, bias by omission yellow journalism etc. 90% of what's reported as.news.is opinion.

In whatever form of Democracy you live in the people elect the politicians so you get what you deserve. Keep in mind the choice is most often between the lesser of two or more evils. That makes it even more important to vote and vote wisely.

This pandemic is the perfect storm to test any elected government in it's competency to govern or not. It is also the litmus test of the voters who elected them in the first place to have made the best choices.
