Operation Isolation Day 11
Reality hits as our very first case was confirmed in our little county, :(
We decided that the extra Turkey I bought after the holidays was to be made into a "Traditional" 2nd Thanksgiving Dinner tonight
The snow will soon be gone as the hard wet rains of spring arrived today, and we begin "Mud Season"
It is truly the only ugly season up here, as the snow recedes all the trash that it covered can be seen.
We are nice n cozy with a fire going in the woodstove, the cabin should be smelling of a Spatchcocked turkey, with all the fixins Mmmmmmm
Damn it I forgot rolls :p
Take care and stay well
Same boat Richard I just don’t watch them especially if it’s too realistic, 50; years forgetting don’t need a reminder
Maximus sees no problem with this isolation at all

Doctors are reporting they now understand the behavior of the COVID 19 virus due to autopsies that they have carried out. This virus is characterized by obstructing respiratory pathways with thick mucus that solidifies and blocks the airways and lungs. So they have discovered that in order to apply a medicine you have to open and unblock these airways so that the treatment can be used to take effect however all of this takes a number of days. Their recommendations for what you can do to safeguard yourself are ...
1) Drink lots of hot liquids - coffees, soups, teas, warm water. In addition take a sip of warm water every 20 minutes bc this keeps your mouth moist and washes any of the virus that’s entered your mouth into your stomach where your gastric juices will neutralize it before it can get to the lungs.
2) Gargle with an antiseptic and warm water like vinegar or salt or lemon every day if possible
3) The virus attaches itself to hair and clothes. And detergent or soap kills it but you must take bath or shower when you get in from the street. Avoid sitting down in your home and go straight to the shower. If you cannot wash your clothes daily, hang them in sunlight which also helps to neutralize the virus
4) Wash metallic surfaces very carefully bc the virus can stay viable on these for up to 9 days. Take note and be vigilant about touching hand rails, door knobs, etc. and keep these clean in home home
5) Don’t smoke
6) Wash your hands every 20 minutes with any soap that foams and do this for 20 seconds
7) Eat fruits and vegetables. Try to elevate your zinc levelS
8)Animals do not spread the virus to people. Its a person to person transmission.
9)Try to avoid getting the common flu as this already weakens your system and try to avoid eating and drinking any cold things.
10) If you feel any discomfort in your throat or a sore throat coming on, attack it immediately using the above methods. The virus enters the system through the throat but will sit in the throat for 3-4 days before it passes into your lungs.
In addition ...
Experts suggest doing this simple verification every morning: Breathe in deeply and hold your breath for 10 seconds. If this can be done without coughing, without difficulty, this shows that there is no fibrosis in the lungs, indicating the absence of infection. It is recommended to do this control every morning to help detect infection.

I have decided that this virus is going to be good for the health of dogs.
I have never seen so many people out walking their dogs!:D
I imagine it will be good for their overall health. It's certainly good for their happiness.

I think saw an article title saying people were spending more time outside with their pets.
Some still don't want to risk it!!

Last night we were watching a movie and when it was over cable came back on. It was the end of local negative news followed by national negative news.... blah, blah, blah

...sigh...you know what? I am not listening to that crap anymore. It is going to be what it is going to be and no amount of babble spewing from any amount of talking heads is going to change it. I'm not giving in to the hype hysteria. We know now what to do and those of us who are responsible ADULTS are doing that. I for one am sick of the 24 hr. if it bleeds it leads channels and I'm not giving.them my attention anymore.
... SIGH... I feel better now...Carry on.
Ever tried to back track and conceal your tracks in a snowfield.....I haven't but that's what trying to keep up with all the precautions and info is like to me. It's maddening. It's nearly impossible trying to turn my cluttered apartment into a clean room.I drink fluids and tea all the time and wash my hands ad nauseum and I keep my distance but all the media is giving me a headache.:gth
Sometimes the news tells you things you do need to know.
Yea, it is a balancing act. You need to watch enough to know what is going on daily but not enough to drive you crazy.
Bob
Right now my biggest dread is going to the grocery store Wednesday morning. Will there be groceries or not? Damn hoarders. We've almost gone back to ww2 rationing days when it's so unnecessary.
I hate the constant bad news and the hype that is going on, but the reality is this “COULD” get bad, 3000 dead already and the peak is still down the road. In the grand scheme of things it’s minor, more people died in car wrecks, but the potential for 80,000, 100,00. Or more not that we couldn’t use a thinning of the stupid people but it’s the ones who get infected because a stupid person doesn’t listen. The country is pretty much on lockdown and it’s tough for some but a little restraint and smart thinking will make this go away much sooner. A month of sucking the belt up is better than scores of dead.
So I feel for the ones who need to work, but the greater good, or as Spock said “ the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few “ if you don’t need to go don’t. My wife has doctors appointments every week. It’s been all phone and video. It’s working just fine and prescriptions are delivered. I,m the only one going out and that’s been 2 trips to the store in 2 weeks, and the dog walks me twice a day.
I agree I would like to see some good news instead of round the clock covid19. I think the world would relax if we just have 1 hour news and 23 hour South Park, and a big fatty
We're on facility lockdown but have a driver who will pick up needed items. The local pharmacies have a free delivery service now for Rx and allergy supplies. I've been mostly a loner so being by myself a large share of the time is less important.
Keep the faith!
Irony vs Stupidity
3/1 You don't need to wear a Mask
3/7 You only need a mask if you are a healthcare worker
3/15 You need a mask if you are sick
3/30 Masks might help everyone everywhere
The above applies to Gloves too
3/1 Stop hoarding supplies
3/15 Buy just enough supplies for the next few days
3/30 You need to stay home and stop going out
3/1 Make sure you Cough and Sneeze into your Elbow
3/15 Stop shaking hands and bump elbows
3/30 Bumping Elbows might spread germs
3/1 Stop Hoarding supplies
3/15 If you feel sick STAY home
3/1 You don't need a test unless you feel sick
3/15 You don't need a test unless you are sick enough to Hospitalize
3/30 We want to test everyone
Dates are of course approximate, but THIS is what the media has told us over the last month I am sure I am missing some obvious duhhhhhhh moments
This is why we MUST separate the Media Hype from the actual dangers from this Virus, both are happening and Politics are alive and well dividing the nations as we struggle to get real info
Now as we look back over this obvious misinformation we realize that common sense trumps Media BS, follow your gut and use common sense
Oh and the Number 1 rule I plan on following is NEVER not EVER have dinner from a Chinse Wet Market (Half Joking)
ps: We are doing fine in the woods, and it is Freaking Snowing hehehehe
No kidding Glen. How about CBS admitting a "mistake" saying a video clip of an overcrowded hospital was NYC when it was in reality it was a hospital in Italy????

Now is not the time to play politics. Save the bias for non-crisis time would ya?
I'm telling you the media is NOT your friend.
I view them as a necessary evil
Well at least one shelf is full

Boy no lie right. They just now came out with an article saying we should all wear masks....wow really ? Reading the comments section of that article, I think we all pretty much have come to the consensus …..why now after we've all been good citizens and let the hoarders and medical personnel have all the masks ? The next question is where do we get a mask now...…good luck with that. I did ask a doctor here at the condo and he said even a bandana would work as it's too basically keep you from spreading it to them not the other way around and to wash it every day but beyond that just do the best you can because even if you find a mask(s), how you gonna keep the daily supply going ??……. Stay tuned for the next episode kids ,I'm sure it's gonna be a good one ?? :aargh:
Finally! Some relief from the shortage of Toilet Paper!
Fresh corn season is starting so the cobs will be filling in. Thank God I listened to my father when he talked about using corn cobs before using the Sears and Roebucks pages in their outhouse before they got running water!
Thank you Dad! :bow
Got the first one dried, fluffed and ready to use :tu
Attachment 318169
Roy I love eating corn on the cob too much to ever cross that line.
I like my option better.

Wasn’t kiddin when I said bidet gentlemen.
The water pick for your arse..
Hehe.
What is up with the twisted correlation between corn and our backside. I mean really so many connections with the two it's like God and Nature got together and said I have a funny idea ha ha. That being said a bidet sounds luxurious and I can't figure either why it didn't take hold here. Roid free please !:dropjaw:
Okay ….I really wanted to say fudge button because I'm a juvenile in an old mans body so sorry mods won't happen again if its too racey . Least I got it out of my system so back to our regularly scheduled adult lives.:o and don't tell me ya'll didn't smirk a little bit.
Yet another article supporting Glenn's theory. Eye Doctors now saying tears can carry the virus hence don't rub your eyes and touch stuff. Watch out for pink eye …..etc. it's just going to keep goin like this. Before you know it, we'll each be issued a capsule to seal ourselves in after which we'll be plugged into a central life support system i.e.. Matrix i.e.. we'll be human batteries for the machines...…sorry but even though I do really take this serious , enough disinformation and speculation is enough. It seems the symptoms now are endless save for the core basic ones first issued by the CDC. which still seem to be the most solid approach so far. A person could go mad second guessing. So if you pick your nose and it's green and funky it could be ……………………………..:gaah:
It could be as simple as being a brand new never before dealt with virus recommendations change as more becomes actually known about it. No vast conspiracy there.
Bob
For most of us we live in a reality where you get sick or don't feel good you get a pill and you be right as rain. Sure everyone knows someone who's fighting a serious condition like Cancer and many do die from it but folks don't dwell on it.
So this new disease sweeps across the planet and folks are forced to come to terms with this new reality. Some simply deny it or minimize it or brush it off in religious terms and some overreact. Many are being forced to accept the fact there is no pill or shot or cure for this new disease and it will be some time before we even know what makes it tick. Right now with all our fancy advanced technology we are no better then some Shaman or Witch Doctor in some far off land. We have a tiger by the tail and he will take us all for a ride.
I don't want to bring politics into this however just in general terms the lack of leadership and incompetence being show by some of our leaders in the U.S is beyond belief and many will die because of it. After this is over a lot of folks will have blood on their hands.
thebigspendur is absolutely correct. It is, however, difficult to
exclude politics from the discussion because both the cause and
the response to this pandemic involves the entire community...
and that, by definition, is politics.
I think that the best we can do at this point is to make informed
decisions, based on information that we receive from reliable
primary sources: the medical pro's, public health officials, and
even a few responsible political leaders. In other words, those
amongst us who are devoted to the truth of the matter.
Good luck to us all. If you don't believe in luck,
then wash your hands...often.
Sorry wasn't really trying to imply any conspiracy just pointing out how bad this game of media telephone is getting. I should not have used the Matrix as an embellishment point. Just saying fear is a strong force. All sorts of speculation out there and people will flock too it. My bad.
How bout this..........The media is messed up and doesn't know its right from left most times. Snake oil anyone ?! Done.
Everyone has an agenda.
The book How to lie with statistics is a good starting point.
