Lots of professional soldiers too, and one lifelong roughneck
Back in '75 when I was in community college I joined V.I.C.A (Vocational Industrial Club of America. In '76 I would become the Local and State President.
For Vocational Education Week I wrote a Letter to the Editor in which I pointed how how important Vocational Education was and how many people don't realize how much they rely on those in common trades. I pointed out that without tradesmen our world would grind to a halt.
Who do you call to repair your car, refrigerator, house? A Physics Professor? NO! You call an automotive mechanic, an appliance repairman, a carpenter! I had quite a long list.
Not long after the article was published I was contacted by the National Office of VICA asking me to write a similar article to be published in their National Publication. I told them that I didn't think that I could improve on what I'd already written and to use it. Sadly it never made it to print.
So, the list of our brothers of the blades occupations has grown.

Maybe i am too easily impressed but it does surprise me sometimes when realize who I'm talking with on here.
Having said that, I don't think it matters whether a person sweeps leaves in the park or pilots the space shuttle in reality. Everyone brings their unique wisdom to our big and round table.
As far as Social media goes.
I do think that this forum could be considered social media in broad terms and could be used as a search engine optimization oppurtunity but thankfully I haven't noticed anyone doing that here.
Let’s not forget Musicians! As Nietzsche once said, without Music, life would be a mistake.
I used to be a semi-pro thespian, and lead choirs or played the occasional instrument, but not as a full fledged pro.
Anyhow, on the topic, I once had two Facebook accounts, one as a semi-pro (yeah, I was a lot of semi, but never more than a half) journalist for the webzine I would maintain, and one for private usage.
Never found the proper use for the private one, and I cut both while people from the "pro" one would get upset not being friend with me on the private one.
Also deleted my twitter account five years ago, and feel all the better since.
Mind you, I used to be on top of things at a time, one of the first generation of bloggers, with a developpers' blog with an audience, but I fear I'm now part of the "get out of my lawn" generation.
