I was just thinking of the slabs off those! Num-NUM!
When I stayed with Joel (Benz) on my 2019 ride we had a fish fry for supper. I 'think' that the two fish were Pike and Walleye. Both were very mild but still flavorful. I can't remember which fish it was but it had what Joel called 'Y' bones and there was a lot of them. Kind of a pain in the ass to find them in your bite of a crispy battered piece but I got through it.

Still drilling holes to fish
We only had about two weeks of ice, that was safe enough to walk on, or fish. There were still pockets of open water on most lakes, so I didn't trust it, this year.
There were quite a few folks around here that took the arttic plunge, this year.
I love to ice fish, but I'm not risking my life for a bluegill, on shotty, ice. I've been thru up to my neck, once before. Not doing it again.
I am going to do something that I have never done this year: saltwater surf fishing
I did my tour in the Navy and my wife and I have vacationed on the Gulf of Mexico for about 16 years, 2 x a year and I have never brought any tackle with me. This year is going to be different! I am actually excited and truly looking forward to it.
A bucket O gills, and redears/shell crackers, for y'all southern folk. They fell to my 5 wt. fly rod, and my hand tied, olive, hares ear nymph.
